Biography of John H. Topper, pages 1020 / 1021. History of De Kalb County, Indiana. Inter-State Publishing Company, Chicago, 1885. John H. Topper, farmer, section 36, Wilmington Township, is one of the most successful and prominent young farmers of the township. He is a native of Wilmington, born Oct. 4, 1863, a son of William H. Topper, one of the early settlers. He has given his attention to agricultural pursuits since old enough to be of assistance on the farm. He went to Defiance county, Ohio, about 1876 and worked two summers for his brother, Simon P. He now lives on the homestead which he superintends and thus relieves his father of the burden he has borne so long and faithfully. He united with the United Brethren church in 1878, but in 1883 changed his membership to the Dunkard church of Corunna. Submitted by: Arlene Goodwin Auburn, Indiana Agoodwin@ctlnet.com
