WE HONOR FAYNE HARTER

Fayne Harter did much research in Ohio and Pennsylvania while doing research on two of her families – George Harter (1800-1869) and the Reichelsdoerfer Family, which is two volumes with 1,613 pages and index. Fayne wanted to give to other researchers some of the rewards of finding information already compiled so she has been compiling records of this area. DeKalb County owes her much for the labor of documenting historical archives and making them accessible to those who have been smitten with the genealogy "bug." She patiently and laborsly copies records from the DeKalb County Court House and compiles and indexes them for the use of DeKalb Researchers.
She has compiled four volumes of Birth Records dating from 1921-1965 and one volume from 1981-1993. Death Records 1899-1920, two volumes from 1920–1965 and one volume 1981-1993; Circuit Court Marriage Records 1837-1882 and six volumes covering the years 1910-1983; Health Department Marriage Records four volumes covering the years 1882-1920; Southeastern DeKalb County, Indiana Tombstone Records. She is continuing with marriage records of later years.

Oh; Tombstone Records of St. John’s Church Cemetery & St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery Schuylkill County, Pa; Records of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Springfield Township, Allen Co. In; Bethel Church of Maumee Twp. Allen Co. and Barnett Chapel of Milan Twp. Allen Co., In.
Fayne attended school in Fort Wayne and graduated from High School in Harlan, In. She worked at General Electric. Her hobbies are photography, hiking, genealogy, reading, theater and concerts. She has traveled to most of the national parks in the United States, to areas of Mexico and twenty-four times to the Canadian Rockies, She has also traveled to Austria Italy, Switzerland and Ecuador and three times to Mexico. Her credentials show her a life member of the Y.W.C.A., Sierra Club, Lake O’Hara Trails Club and the Skyline Hikers of the Canadian Rockies. She is past president of the Co-ed Camera Club.
