Ceremony at Hawk Cemetery
for Revolutionary War Soldier
Pvt John Gordon
August 13, 2005

Members of the Continental Chapter of the Sons of the
American Revolution joined Hawk Cemetery board
members and other local people interested in history
for the dedication of a gravestone for John Gordon.

Flags were presented and muskets fired in a salute.

John Gordon and his wife, Elizabeth Art, moved to
Delaware County four years before his death in 1832.
He is presumed to be buried in Hawk Cemetery.


During the Revolutionary War, Gordon was a private
in Pennsylvania-based regiments. His major military
engagement was the seige of Yorktown, VA.
