Delaware County, Indiana

Gallery of the Unknown

This is the collection place for those unidentified photographs of people, places and things, that are most likely connected to Delaware County in some way. It is unfortunate that many unknown people photographs can't be connected to any particular family, that buildings can't be identified, and that activities (reunion) remain nameless and unexplained. If you have mystery photographs, clippings etc that you believe are connected to Delaware County in some way, please send them to: Gina Richardson. Maybe someone can identify them!

JOVENAI COUNTRY CLUB?

Joe Wood writes: My mother, Louella Mae (McGinnis) Wood, born Feb 27, 1912, told us many stories about a "Country Club" her parents belonged to. I believe she and my father stayed there many times as a young couple. They may have stayed there for their honeymoon when they eloped in 1935. My mother told us the club was the Jovenai Country Club.

Joe would love to know more about the "Jovenai Country Club" - what was the correct name, where was it located, if there any stories, and the names of any other club members. Please contact him if you have information.

The first picture is the 1920 Jovenai Country Club Group Picture. My grandmother, Carrie Mae (Cooper) McGinnis, is the lady in the dark dress with a v-neck and lace collar just to the right of the lady with her hand on her forehead.

GRANDMA McGINNIS IN LINE - JOVENAI CLUB

Joe Wood's grandmother, Carrie Mae (Cooper) McGinnis is in line, 2nd from right, at what appears to be a very important building. Can anyone identify the other women?
