Richard Harris
Jasper Courier
Friday September 22, 1822

Mr. Richard Harris of Boone Township was one of the best known citizens of that township. He was 74 years old last January. He died on Saturday last, and was buried at the Lemmon graveyard on Sunday. He had been a citizen of this county for 55 years, having come to it with his father in 1817, from Union County, Carolina, and settled near Portersville. The family was during this brothers' lifetime always a leading one in the county, but of late years Mr. Harris has been confined more closely to his farm. He was a good citizen and one of the landmarks of civilization in this county.
