Randall O. Yoder, age 63 of Jasper, Indiana, fell asleep in Christ on Monday (December 22, 2014) at home. Randall was born December 8, 1951 in Washington, Indiana to Loren and Mary (Stoll) Yoder. He married Donna Swartzentruber on June 11, 1971 in Montgomery, Indiana. Randall graduated from Barr-Reeve high school in 1970, and ITT Technical Institute in 1972. He co-founded Harmonic Electronics, Inc of Jasper, Indiana in 1979. He was a teacher and engineer at heart and enjoyed working until the day of his homecoming. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, gospel music, guitar, sewing, reading, and laughing with his cats. Surviving, Wife;

Judith A. Kunz age 68 of Jasper passed away at 4:08 P.M. Thursday September 16, 2010 at her home. She was born September 17, 1941 in Huntingburg IN. to: Otto “Rudy” and Cyrilla (Jochem) Jochim. She married Kent Kunz February 15, 1962. She was a member of Holy family Catholic Church, Holy Family Sodality of the Blessed Virgin, she was a member of Stephen Ministry Where she was a past co-ordinator and Leader Surviving: her husband Kent Kunz of Jasper

Hugh Douglas "Doug" Abbett , age 63, of Jasper, passed away at 3:00 p.m. Monday (December 23, 2013) at home. Doug was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 5, 1950 to Pierce and Fredda (Miller) Abbett. He married Susan Ruxer on December 27, 1972 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana. Doug was the owner of Ruxer Ford Lincoln automobile dealership in Jasper, Indiana for 40 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as a Lector and on the Finance and Building Committees. He also served on the Jasper Community Arts Commission, and was a member of the Indiana Automobile Dealers Association, and the National Automobile Dealers Association. Robert J. Ackerman age 59 of Jasper died at 4:00 a.m. Sunday (June 1,
2003) in the Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He had worked at the Jasper Inwood Furniture Company in Jasper for 37

Amy C. Ackerman, age 97 of Jasper passed away at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday (December 21, 2011) at her home in Jasper. She was born at Dubois, Indiana on September 27, 1914 to Hampton and Elizabeth (Stamm) Pinnick. She married Robert E. Ackerman who preceded her in death on June 19, 2000. Amy retired from the Jasper Glove Company where she had worked for many years. She is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church - Women of the Moose and the Bainbridge Home extension Club. She was an avid Bingo Player and enjoyed sewing and quilting. Surviving are two daughters,

and Anna (Agnes) Kreilein. She married Fred Ackerman June 26, 1935. He passed away

Harriet Louise Adams, age 71 of Jasper died at 2;00 p.m. Saturday (November 29, 2008) in the Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born at Sand Springs, Oklahoma on December 31, 1936 to Harry T. and Louise (Grafa) Thompson. She married Clifford Ernest Adams on March 10, 1962. Harriet was retired as a Registered Nurse for 30 years; she graduated from Illinois Masonic School of Nursing. She attended the Jasper Christian Church. Surviving is her husband, Clifford E. Adams.

Ryan A. Ahrens age 37 of Boone Twp. Passed away at 1:20 P.M. Thursday September 6, 2007 near New Albany. He was born November 25, 1969 at Jasper to Ronald and Carol (Heeke) Ahrens. Robert L. Bachman, age 72, passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Friday (December 13, 2013) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana. Bob was born in Jasper, Indiana, on July 26, 1941, to Albert and Eleanor (Seger) Bachman. He married Marietta Boeckman on April 11, 1964, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.
Bob worked at Central Tractor for 27 years and then retired from Wright Stemle where he had worked for 17 years.
He also served in the Indiana National Guard.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and of the Dubois High School Class of 1959.
He enjoyed doing yardwork, walking, traveling and spending time with his family.

James G. Bachman, age 88 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday (October 9, 2014) at the Providence Home Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana. James was born on March 12, 1926 in Dubois, Indiana to Albert B. and Eleanor C. (Seger) Bachman. He married Victoria C. Englert on October 7, 1950 in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on January 8, 1991. James retired from the Jasper Corporation, where he worked for over 40 years. He was an Army Veteran who served in WWII. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, the Jasper VFW Post #673, the Jasper Knights of Columbus, and the Ireland Sportsman's Club. Lawrence J. (Larry) Backer, age 77 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 10:23 p.m. on Monday (November 24, 2014) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper, IN Larry was born on September 9, 1937 in Evansville, Indiana to Dr. Henry G. and Frances (McLaughlin) Backer. He married Mary Ellen Schneider on August 21, 1965 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, IN. He retired after 32 years as a teacher who taught Chemistry, Biology and Math at Holland High School and Southridge High School. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, IN, and the Ferdinand American Legion Post #124. He was a member of the first graduating class of St. Ferdinand High School, where he was a member of the basketball and baseball teams. Rosaline Baer, age 88, of Dubois, Indiana died Tuesday (March 3, 2009) at 3:00 p.m. at her home. She was born at Haysville, Indiana on October 29, 1920 to George and Anna (Huebner) Eisenhut. She married Philmore C. Baer on June 11, 1949, he preceded her in death on April 28, 1986. Rosaline had worked for the former Jasper Glove Company and the the Former Indiana Cabinet Company in Dubois.

Linus G. Baer age 85 of Jasper died at 9:15 a.m. Sunday (May 4, 2008) at the St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born at Harbison Township on October 19, 1922 to Henry A. and Annetta E. (Seitz) Baer. Married twice; 1st marriage, Cleovia E. Meyer, she died in 1965, 2nd marriage to Mildred Buchta Freyberger on July 6, 1965 in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township. Linus Baer was a WWII Army Veteran and a retired Farmer and also worked at Leed Selling Tools Corporation in Ireland. He is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township and Charter Member Ireland Conservation Club. Clarence “Pete” Schneider, 92, of St. Anthony, died Wednesday (Mach 23, 2016) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Ferdinand September 27, 1923, to Andrew and Clella (Worman) Schneider. He married Ardella Persohn July 21, 1943, at St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Pete was a World War II Army veteran and served overseas. He was a retired Teamster’s truck driver and farmer. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Huntingburg V.F.W. Post No. 2366, the Jasper German Club, and the St. Anthony Senior Citizens. He enjoyed family, friends, and driving around the country.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ardella Schneider; two daughters, Sharon Terry and husband Tony, Silverville, and Mary Ann Eckstein, Huntingburg; three sons, Randy Schneider and wife Gwendolyn, Kyana, Lonnie Schneider and wife Cheryl, Ferdinand, and Myron Schneider and wife Angie, Shelbyville, Kentucky; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson

Elizabeth Joan Blesch, 89, of Zionsville, died Sunday (March 20, 2016) at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Dale September 10, 1926, to John and Minerva (Jones) Heichelbech. She married Jerome W. Blesch May 6, 1950, in Ft. Wayne.

Elizabeth was a 1944 graduate of Dale High School and a graduate of Lockyear Business College. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband with the office work at Blesch Brothers, Inc. in Holland. She loved crossword puzzles and was a member of the Holland United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Jerome W. Blesch; one daughter, Barbara Shafer and husband Lonnie, Zionsville; and two grandsons, David B. Shafer, Chicago, and Evan W. Shafer, Cleveland, Ohio.

Carolyn L. Wellemeyer, 99, of Huntingburg, died Sunday (March 20, 2016) at The Waters of Huntingburg. She was born in Huntingburg March 12, 1917, to Edwin and Corilla (Reutepohler) Lukemeyer. She married Leon Wellemeyer in 1942 during World War II at the Clinton Avenue Community Church in Brooklyn, New York. They were married for 71 years. He died August 29, 2014.

Carolyn was a graduate of Evansville College and a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. She was a school teacher for 35 years in Huntingburg and Evansville and retired in 1980. She served as director of the Huntingburg Foundation for two years, served on the auxiliary board and as a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital for over 25 years, and volunteered making deliveries with Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association at the national, state and local levels; a charter member of the Huntingburg Study Club; past member of Sinawik; V.F.W. Auxiliary; Huntingburg United Methodist Church, where she worked with the youth, the Huntingburg Music Club and a former Cub Scout den mother and Girl Scout Counselor for the girl scouts’ summer camp in Evansville. She loved a good book and being with her family and friends.

She is survived by one daughter, Marcia Scales and husband Ralph, Jeffersonville; two sons, Mike Wellemeyer and wife Lynda, Prospect, Kentucky, and John Wellemeyer and wife Elaine, Evansville; one sister, Dorothy Bonar and husband Joihns, Tucson, Arizona; one nephew, Scott Bonar, Tucson; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

 Geraldine “Gerri” Schnaus, 59, of Loogootee, died Sunday (March 20, 2016) at her home. She was born in Jasper March 18, 1957, to George and Marian (Prechtel) Eckerle. She married Stephen Schnaus April 16, 1977, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Gerri retired from teaching at Morganfield, Kentucky, where she taught business. She was a 1975 graduate of Jasper High School and a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Loogootee. She was active in the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Food Pantry in the Loogootee area and was active and supportive of the Amish community.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen Schnaus; two sons, Cale Schnaus and wife Rachael, Evansville, and Ared Schnaus and wife Jennifer, Fort Branch; four grandchildren, Paige, Asher, Cora, and Hayden; her father George Eckerle and companion Norberta Bullock, Jasper; and three sisters, Jane Hochgesang and husband Eugene, Jasper, and Sharon Schnell and husband Fred and Karen Hauser and husband Rick, all of Schnellville.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marian Eckerle.

John E. Popp, 79, of Haysville, died Saturday (March 19, 2016) at his home. He was born in Jasper February 19, 1937, to Ludwig and Arnetta (Harder) Popp. He married Grace Edrington. She died January 7, 2002.

John was a farmer and retired from Jasper Engines and Transmissions after 20 years of employment. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville and a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed gardening, working outside, fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his partner, Marie Harder, Haysville; three daughters, Brenda Pielemeier and husband Bob, Evansville, Janet Popp and companion Bill Tomlinson, French Lick, and Diane Popp and companion Bill Henninger, Eckerty; one son, Bobby Popp and wife Becky, Petersburg, six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Juanita Hembree and husband Radus, Loogootee.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, Junior Popp, and one sister, Gladys Popp.

 Carol G. Tribbie, 82, of Gentryville, died Thursday (March 17, 2016) at the Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand where she resided for the last three years. She was born in Huntingburg February 14, 1934, to Walter and Geneva (Conner) Horney.

Carol was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and being outdoors with her horses and dogs.

Bettylu was a member of the Huntingburg United Methodist Church and a founding member of Huntingburg's Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary; she enjoyed crocheting and time spent outdoors gardening.  William F. 'Bill' Hartloff, age 58, of Holland, passed away at 12:23 a.m., Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper after a short battle with cancer.
He was born February 27, 1957 in Buffaloville, Indiana, to William and Rose (Taylor) Hartloff. He married Audrey Meyer on June 5, 1976, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland. Bill cared deeply for his family, friends and co-workers and assisted with a glad heart those needing a hand. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Holland; and was a hard worker who valued his years as an operator for Solar Sources, and then as a team member at Toyota in Princeton.
Bill is survived by his wife of 39 years, Audrey Hartloff of Holland; two daughters, Dawn (Jeremiah) Werne of Martinsville and Tasha (Kyle) Cox of Holland; two granddaughters, Kyah Hartloff and Avery Werne; brother, Larry (Kathy) Cooper of Radcliff, KY; sister, Bonnie Hemphill of Holland; father-in-law, James J. William Fredrick "Bill" Lohman, age 80, passed away at 4:20 a.m., on Friday, May 22, 2015 at The Waters of Huntingburg in Huntingburg, Indiana. He was born December 18, 1934 in Huntingburg, Indiana to Martin Henry and Helen Minerva (Kunz) Lohman. He married Linda Gayle Flamion on September 10, 1960 in Huntingburg. Mr. Lohman served in the Army from 1955-1958, spending 28 months in Africa. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Huntingburg Excavating Company, and retired from Old Ben Coal Company. Bill was a member of the VFW Post #2366 and UMWA Local #4343. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and gardening as well as being a fan of NASCAR, IU Basketball and Indianapolis Colts Football. Mr. Rauscher worked as a comptroller and was employed by the I.R.S., Huntingburg Furniture Company, Olinger Construction Company, and Kimball International where he worked for 31 years and retired. He married Linda (Lottes) Harris on July 1, 1989 in Huntingburg and then took ecumenical marriage vows on July 15, 1989 at the Glezen Revival Center in Glezen, Indiana. Bill worked as a patrolman for 12 years with the Huntingburg Police Department, was a general contractor/painter for the Koch family at Holiday World, worked as a security guard at the Holiday Inn in Jasper, and was a greeter at the Jasper Wal-Mart store. He loved going to yard sales and was an outgoing, gregarious person. He was preceded in death by: one son, Doug Wahl; his parents; four brothers, Hilbert, Linus, Elmer and Walter Wahl; and three sisters, Marie Theile, Clara Taylor, and Nora Fischer. Carmel, Illinois, to Elmer Guy and Sarah Belva (Ritter) Case. He married Emma Grace Swartsfager on August 29, 1950 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Bob worked for and retired from the Southern Railroad. Harold Louis "Chalkie" Ermert, age 86, of Huntingburg, passed away at 10:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015 at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born August 12, 1929 in Duff, Indiana, to Edward and Carrie (Caldemeyer) Ermert. He married Mary Ella Evrard on April 18, 1950 in Dale, Indiana. Mr. Ermert was owner of Mary's Furniture and co-owner of Lincoln Trails Furniture. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, V.F.W. Post #2366, and the American Legion. Chalkie enjoyed camping and was an avid collector. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Chalkie was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Marie Rauscher, Carrie Rauscher, Selma Snyder and Mabel Springston; and two brothers, Henry Ermert and Elmer Ermert. Edward J. "Ed" Burress, age 59, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 12:58 a.m., on Monday, February 16, 2015 in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born February 27, 1955 in Jasper, Indiana, to Charles W. and Elsie M. (Bishop) Burress. Ed loved to go fishing, motorcycling and driving around in his car. Edwin C. "Eddie" Reller, age 74, of Holland, Indiana, passed away at 7:18 p.m., on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Stendal, Indiana, on April 18, 1940 to Edwin and Irene (Tevault) Reller. He married Mary Jane Fenneman April 2, 1960 at the Holland United Methodist Church. Eddie was employed by Fawnlake Furniture Co., Tretter Motor Co., John Frields Ford in Huntingburg, Scraper Ford in Otwell, Mangles Garage in Holland, and then purchased the Mobil Station in Holland. From there he went to work for Peabody Coal Co. in Lynnville where he retired in 1999 after 29 years of service. He was a member of the Holland United Methodist Church; an avid sports fan who followed the Dodgers, NASCAR and I.U.; and loved camping and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane Reller of Holland; one daughter, Robin Ruhe, husband Dave, of Jasper; three sons, Ronald Reller, wife Dee, of Tucson, AZ, Roger Reller of Jasper, Ryan Reller, wife Julia, of Tewksbury, MA; one sister, Linda Denton, husband Jim, of Terre Haute; one brother, Gerald Reller, partner Shirley Daub, of Lynnville; by nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Frosty originally worked at Sound Design, which was later purchased by Kimball International; he continued working for Kimball at their Heritage Hills Division until his retired. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Stendal and the Holland American Legion Post #343. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on anything mechanical. He was born June 16, 1932 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Leonard and Hazel (Revel) Brown. He married Margaret E. Lemond on June 20, 1953, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana. Jim was a truck driver and was retired from Buchta Trucking. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He enjoyed playing Wii Sports, watching westerns on t.v.; and spending time with his family. Jim was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and traveling through the mountains. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bobby Lee Brown, Dallas Brown and Jack Brown; four sisters, Charlotte Seibert, Maxine Faye Mendel, Dorothy Miller and a sister who died in infancy; and by three grandchildren.

James R. "Jim" Carlisle, age 76, of the Pikeville community, passed away at 5:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at The Waters of Huntingburg in Huntingburg after a short illness. He was born September 27, 1936 in Stendal, Indiana to Guy A. and Retta (Russell) Carlisle. He was united in marriage to Ruth E. Brockriede on April 26, 1958 at Zoar Church in Zoar, Indiana. Mr. Carlisle retired after 32 years as an Operating Engineer with the I.U.O.E. Local #181 and was involved in the daily operation of the family farm until his recent illness. He was a 50 year member of the Winslow Masonic Lodge #260 F&AM, a member of the Winslow Eastern Star #391, a founding member of the Lockhart Township Volunteer Fire Department, attended Zoar United Methodist Church, and served as a Lockhart Township Trustee. He was born September 8, 1957 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Leroy and Rosemary (Olinger) Mundy. He graduated from Southridge High School, received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame, and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin. Joe worked as a Banker for 31 years with the same bank in Dubois County. The Bank changed names through acquisitions, originally starting as First National Bank and then becoming Integra Bank and finally Old National Bank. He was currently employed as the General Manager for the Dubois County Bombers baseball team. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg; the Y.M.I. Club; the Huntingburg Foundation's Board of Directors; the Huntingburg Event & Community Center Board President; the Huntingburg Chamber of Commerce former Board Member; the Southridge Lettermens Club Board of Directors and Treasurer; the Notre Dame Club of Southwest Indiana Board Member and former Treasurer; Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dubois County former Board Member and Mentor; Southwest Dubois County School Corporation former Basketball and Football Coach; Southern Hills Counseling Center former Board Member; Friends of Southern Hills Board Member; and active participant in the WITZ Forecasters Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Mundy, who died February 20, 2007. Kathleen J. 'Kathy' Bridge, age 60, of Holland, passed away at 2:24 p.m., Monday, October 5, 2015 at her home.
She was born May 6, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan, to James Martin Fettes, Sr. and Irene (Getter) Fettes. She married William Lee Bridge on November 6, 1973 in Pontiac, Michigan. Kathy was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Northwood Good Samaritan Center in Jasper. She formerly worked at the Sisters of St. Benedict Hildegard Health Center in Ferdinand, the Holland Elementary School as a cook, at Blesch Sales & Service in Holland as a cashier, and the Holland Daycare Center. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Joseph Fettes; and one sister, Elizabeth Ann Fettes.

Charles P. "Sonny" Cooper, age 69, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 11:38 p.m., on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at his home in Huntingburg. He was born November 1, 1945, in Dale, Indiana, to Earl and Hazel (Niehaus) Cooper. He married Suzanne Struckman on June 4, 1984. Mr. Cooper co-owned Huntingburg Excavating; founded and co-owned L&S Coal Company; and his last and best company that he founded was Cooper Rail Service, which he started with a backhoe and a dump truck and grew to the great business that it is today. Sonny enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, NASCAR racing, going to the casino, and attending his grandkid's sporting events. Harold E. "Sonny" Wight, age 68, of Birdseye, Indiana, passed away at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, September 1, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. Jean Marie (Frermann) Jones, age 87, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 4:24 a.m., on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana. She was born January 18, 1927 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to John and Bertha (Schwabe) Frermann. Jean attended and graduated High School in Louisville, Kentucky. She was united in marriage to Marvin Raymond Jones on November 22, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky; and in 2007 they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Shortly after their marriage, Marvin and Jean moved to Huntingburg, Indiana, to raise their family. She and her husband owned and operated The Gift Shoppe in Jasper and Huntingburg for more than 21 years. Jean was a long time member of the Huntingburg United Methodist Church; and was a former member of the Huntingburg and Holland Business & Professional Women and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Marvin Jones, who passed away April 3, 2008; and two brothers, Charles Frermann and William Frermann. Carol Ann (Siebe) Wiggins went home to be with the Lord June 24, 2013. She was born at home in Stendal, IN in 1936 to Walter and Marjorie Siebe. She retired from O.F.S. and was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church of Stendal. She loved her family and friends, the outdoors, watching wildlife, and took pride in all that she did. Carol was a motivated and spirited woman, avid UNO player, an amazing woman, mother and friend who will be deeply missed. Helen Virginia Abell, age 91, of Birdseye, Indiana, passed away at 10:25 a.m., on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at her residence in Birdseye. She was born December 5, 1923 in Mentor, Indiana, to Vernie and Rosella Ida (Crawford) Pfaff. She married Forrest L. Abell on October 6, 1945 in English, Indiana. Helen was retired from the Purdue Extension Food Service Program where she worked as a food nutritionist. She was a member of the Birdseye Christian Church; a charter member of the Birdseye Order of the Eastern Star #590; V.F.W. Post #2366 Auxiliary in Huntingburg; and D.A.V. Auxiliary in Jasper. Arlena M. Abshire, age 89, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, formerly of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 8:45 a.m., Saturday, August 31, 2013 at her daughter's home in Tulsa. She was born June 23, 1924 in Floral, Kentucky to Ernest Edward and Mary Zelma (Lambert) Mickel. She worked at Holland Dairy for 30 years as a lab technician. Arlena was a member of the First Baptist Church in Huntingburg where she participated in several church mission trips and was a bible school teacher, was a member of the Birdseye Eastern Star #590, and was a 4-H Club leader. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Fred Abshire, who died January 18, 1979; one brother, John Ernest Mickel; and one granddaughter, Rhonda Hill. Paul F. Aldridge, age 66, of Palmyra, Indiana, formerly of Stendal, passed away at 7:57 p.m., Friday, November 27, 2015, at the Lynnville Park Campground in Lynnville, Indiana.
He was born March 7, 1949 in Oakland City, Indiana, to Artie and Gladys (Blount) Aldridge. He married Dixie L. Bailey on September 22, 1967 in Oakland City, Indiana. Mr. Aldridge worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the New Liberty General Baptist Church, U.M.W.A., Petersburg V.F.W. Post, and Oakland City American Legion. Paul was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rosalee Travagiakis; and two brothers, Jack Aldridge and Raymond Aldridge.

Robert E. Altmeyer, age 76, of Stendal, Indiana, passed away at 3:55 p.m., on Monday, March 16, 2015 at The Waters of Huntingburg nursing center in Huntingburg. He was born October 29, 1938 in Dubois County, Indiana, to George Altmeyer, Sr. and Alice (Wilkey) Altmeyer. He married Rebecca Sue Eichmiller on September 11, 1971 in Jasper, Indiana. Mr. Altmeyer was a factory worker; an avid fisherman; and enjoyed squirrel hunting and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son who died prior to birth, Robert Altmeyer; three sisters, Henrietta King, Georgie Grayer and Louise Morgan; and three brothers, George Altmeyer Jr., Herman Altmeyer and Harvey Altmeyer. David J. Altmeyer, age 39, of Jasper, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at his residence. He was born September 16, 1975 at the Naval Hospital in Cherry Point, North Carolina, to Lawrence J. and Mary (Boyer) Altmeyer. John W. Altmeyer, age 71, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 2:35 a.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born February 12, 1943 in Boonville, Indiana, to Edwin S. and Naomi L. (Wire) Altmeyer. Mr. Altmeyer retired as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He served 20 years in the military and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his military retirement, he worked at Styline Corporation in Huntingburg and enjoyed time spent fishing. He was preceded in death by: his mother and father; two brothers, Charles Altmeyer and Earl Altmeyer; and one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothea and Leon Langebrake. He is survived by: His wife, Brigitte A. Lugene Andry, age 88, of Birdseye, passed away at 2:10 p.m., on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born August 17, 1927 near Birdseye, Indiana, to Everett and Alice (Eckert) Andry. He married Norma E. Cook on May 27, 1948 in Jasper, Indiana. Mr. Andry worked in the road construction business and was employed by Olinger Construction Company for 27 years and J.H. Rudolph Asphalt Company where he retired. He was a member of the Fairview General Baptist Church in Taswell and charter member of the Birdseye Volunteer Fire Department; he enjoyed farming and was an avid coon hunter in his younger years. Lugene was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Andry, who died September 5, 1995; and two brothers, Clifford Andry and Novie Lee Andry who died in infancy. He is survived by: His wife, Norma E. Patsy L. Andry, age 77, of Jasper, passed away Sunday morning, April 26, 2015 at her home; she was taken to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper where she was pronounced deceased. She was born at home on April 2, 1938 in Orange County, Indiana, to Loval and Helen (Parks) Patton. She married Harold Ray Andry on June 30, 1956 at the Fairview General Baptist Church in Taswell, Indiana. Mrs. Andry was a retired teacher's aide having worked in school systems at Pine Ridge, Jasper and Huntingburg; and was a member of the New Hope General Baptist Church in Birdseye. Opal Mary Andry, age 91, of DeLand, Florida, formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015, in Orange City, Florida.
She was born September 15, 1924 in Celina, Tennessee, to Lawrence and Zula (Lee) Brady. She married Farrell E. Andry on April 6, 1947 in Westfield, Indiana. She worked at Inland Container Corporation in Indianapolis for 45 years and enjoyed traveling. Opal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Farrell E. Andry; four sisters, Emma Eckle, Ernal Cagle, Buna White and Ermin Reecer; and two brothers, Carson Brady and Farley Brady.

Sherron Sue Oster, age 63, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015, at her home in Huntingburg.
She was born September 26, 1952, in Jackson, Mississippi to Jack and Bobbie (Loyd) Boutwell. She was a graduate of the Jasper High School Class of 1971; and was united in marriage to Emil R. Oster on July 31, 1971, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg. Sherron was a homemaker and member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg. She enjoyed painting, drawing and flower gardening.

Melvin Douglas Walton, age 76, of Dale, Indiana, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born November 7, 1939 in Haywood County, Tennessee, to Henry R. and Jennie R. Walton. He married Judith Ann McCauley on August 23, 1980, in Dresden, Tennessee. Mr. Walton served twenty years in the United States Marine Corps, was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and retired as a Gunnery Sergeant. Following his military career, Doug worked as a farmer and truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Judith Ann 'Judy' Walton, who died May 16, 2012.

Kathleen Berg, 93, of Birdseye, passed away at 9:45 a.m., E.S.T., on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at The Waters of Huntingburg in Huntingburg, Indiana.
She was born May 18, 1922 in Perry County, Indiana to Charley and Amanda (Cox) Shafer. She married Allen 'Dutch' Berg on August 9, 1941 in English. Kathleen sold Avon for over 20 years and also worked for the Southern Railway for a short time. She attended the Anderson Valley Christian Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her garden, and going to auctions. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen, who passed away on May 24, 1995; three sisters, Hilda Eckert, Alice Gillaspie, Mildred Grant; and a brother, Harold Shafer.

Betty L. Lee, age 85, of Velpen, passed away at 8:25 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.
Bettye was born August 17, 1930 in Velpen, Indiana, to Frederick and Opal (Scott) Starkey. She was united in marriage to Cleo Lee on December 16, 1949, in Kentucky. Bettye was a member of the Otwell High School class of 1948 and was a graduate of the Lockyear Business College. She worked as a self-employed tax preparer for 50 years; and served as a former Marion Township Trustee. Bettye also worked at Ripco, the Otwell Water Corporation, and the Pike County Treasurer's Office. She was a lifetime member of the Velpen United Methodist Church, and held officer positions at the district level of the United Methodist Women's Association. Bettye enjoyed traveling, gardening, and hummingbirds. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Cleo Lee, who died May 19, 2002; and one sister, Beverly Allen.

Randy Cooper, age 61, of Birdseye, passed away at 10:34 a.m., E.S.T., Monday, December 14, 2015, in the emergency room at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper, Indiana.
He was born February 22, 1954, in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Obie and Delores (Hoffman) Cooper. He married Gail R. Honaker on June 15th, 1974 in Birdseye. He worked for the Dubois County Highway Department for 30 years, retiring as a Supervisor. He was a member of Bethlehem Masonic Lodge # 574 in Birdseye and Nicholson Valley Church. He enjoyed serving the music ministry by playing the guitar. He was also a song writer. He loved farming and riding horses. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter; Kelly Zehr; and a sister-in-law, Kim Cooper.

Paul E. Sollman, age 77, of Velpen, passed away at 3:24 p.m., C.S.T., Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at Deaconess Hospital's Hospice Care Center in Evansville, Indiana.
He was born May 21, 1938, in Pike County west of Holland, Indiana, to Emil and Hilda (Nuhring) Sollman. Paul was a factory worker and served as Marion Township Trustee for 16 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; attending singing performances; and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Hilda Arensman, age 98, formerly of Huntingburg, having moved 11 years ago to live with her niece in Evansville, passed away at 5:20 a.m. (C.D.T.), Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Golden Living Center-Brentwood in Evansville. She was born October 20, 1914 in Huntingburg, Indiana to Mathew and Margaret (Schmidt) Oser. She was united in marriage to her one-and-only love, Louis Arensman, on August 29, 1940. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg and belonged to St. Mary's Ladies Sodality. Hilda was a hard worker her entire life - having worked at the Jasper Glove Factory and General Electric, farmed with her husband until 1977, and worked as a housekeeper for many years at various businesses and homes including Farm Credit Services for 40+ years. She was preceded in death by: her husband of 55 years, Louis A. Arensman, who died November 16, 1995; her parents, Mathew and Margaret Oser; four brothers - Ralph, Walter, Sylvester and Hubert Oser; and two sisters - Dorothy Vogler and Louise Bolin. She is survived by: Her niece and caregiver, Kelli Hart of Evansville, IN and family with whom she lived for 11 years, and by many nieces, nephews and very special friends. Dorothy M. Aufderhar, age 95, of Jasper, formerly of Huntingburg, passed away at 4:45 p.m., on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born April 9, 1920 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Walter and Adelia (Frick) Heim. Dorothy graduated from Huntingburg High School in 1938 and was united in marriage to Albert J. Aufderhar on July 28, 1940 at Salem Church. Dorothy worked as a school secretary at Southridge High School. She was a member of the Business & Professional Women, the Huntingburg Research Club, the Dubois County Home Economics Club, and was a faithful member of Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg where she served as past President of the Women's Guild and as Chairwoman of Salem's 150th Anniversary Committee. In 1993, the 19th General Synod of the United Church of Christ honored Dorothy by presenting to her the award for Outstanding Lay Woman of the Indiana-Kentucky Conference of churches. Dorothy enjoyed bird watching, researching genealogy, and loved to read. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Aufderhar, who passed away December 20, 2001; one brother, Don Heim; two sisters, Mildred Springston and Evelyn Meyerholtz; one son-in-law, Terry Eastwood; and one grandson, Justin Todd Eastwood. Brenda Jean Aust, age 63, of Stendal, passed away at 7:23 p.m., on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at her residence.

She was born May 28, 1952, in Bedford, Indiana to George and Betty (Carnes) Rominger. She married Allen Aust on June 30, 1974, in French Lick, Indiana. She graduated from Springs Valley High School, Oakland City College, and Indiana State University where she received her master’s degree in education. Brenda retired from the Winslow Elementary School after 35 years of teaching. She was a member of the Bethel General Baptist Church; enjoyed creative outlets such as drawing, sewing, photography, and singing; was a hot rod enthusiast; enjoyed Indiana history, mushroom hunting each spring, and most of all Brenda enjoyed following her grandchildren’s endeavors. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Joseph G. "Glenn" Austin, age 54, of Velpen, passed away at 3:00 a.m., Thursday, August 20, 2015 at his home from complications due to cancer. He was born September 29, 1960 in Noblesville, Indiana, to Jerry Roger and Sharon (Lee) Austin. Glenn loved to hunt and fish. He was always on the go. He enjoyed throwing horseshoes and spending time out. Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Roger Austin of Velpen; one son, J.R. Austin of Holland; and one brother, Jerry Roger Austin, Jr. of Velpen. Jewanna Mattice, age 83, of Holland, Indiana, formerly of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away at 8:45 a.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
She was born June 25, 1932 in Harlan County, Kentucky, to Oscar and Fannie (Godsey) Shumate. Mrs. Mattice was a retired nurse. She enjoyed singing southern gospel music; and was active in her home church in Corbin, Kentucky, where she taught bible school. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Eugene Mattice, who died in 2003; two daughters, Donna Lane and Judy Oberhausen; three brothers, Jim Shumate, Tom Shumate and Don Shumate; and one sister, Vera Bruce.

James D. Neuman, age 84, of Huntingburg, passed away at 5:53 a.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Brookside Village in Jasper.
He was born April 14, 1931 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Walter and Dena (Hoffman) Neuman. He married Ruth Heidorn on August 20, 1955, at Salem Church in Huntingburg. Jim was a retired telephone lineman. He was a member of the Holland American Legion Post #343 and Quail Unlimited; enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball; and was a fisherman and coon hunter. He served as a Corporal in the United States Army. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandchild.

Eleanor L. Loehr, age 88, of Holland, passed away at 10:42 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2015, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.
She was born October 10, 1927 in Stendal, Indiana, to Clarence and Helen (Weitkamp) Weitkamp. She married Leroy Loehr on June 15, 1948, in Zoar, Indiana. Eleanor was a farmer's wife; a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, where she was active in the Women of the Word; and a 50 year member of the Happy Homemaker Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Loehr, who died October 23, 2014; two sisters, Luella Heilman and Wilma Buse; and two brothers, Eldo Weitkamp and Robert Weitkamp.

Dorothy Jean Hamilton, age 81, of Marana, Arizona, formerly of Augusta, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at her residence in Arizona.
She was born April 18, 1934 in Velpen, Indiana, to Hollis H. and Imogene (Sims) Carlisle. She married Billie R. "Bill" Hamilton on May 21, 1952, in Buckskin, Indiana. Mrs. Hamilton was a retired school bus driver. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Stendal and the Winslow Chapter #391 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billie R. "Bill" Hamilton, who died August 19, 2014.

Matilda Margaret Lasher, age 99, of Huntingburg, passed away at 4:55 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2015, at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
She was born April 1, 1916 in Jasper, Indiana, to Fidelis and Margaret (Bauer) Schuble. She married John C. Lasher on November 20, 1941. Mrs. Lasher was a homemaker; a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Ladies Sodality; and enjoyed gardening and bowling. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Lasher, who died December 31, 2000; one son, David A. Lasher; and two sisters, Fidelia Deisz and Frances Haase.

Philip M. Harris, age 66, passed away Tuesday evening, November 17, 2015, at his residence in Huntingburg.
He was born April 12, 1949 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Omer and Goldie (VanWinkle) Harris. He married Donna J. Sunderman on May 10, 1974 in Huntingburg. Philip worked as a journeyman electric lineman for the City of Huntingburg. He enjoyed fishing and hunting; going to the casinos; and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He served in the United States Navy, as a member of the Seabees, from 1967-1971. Philip was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Lloyd Harris, Aaron Harris, Lowell Harris, Virgil "Pat" Harris and Lewis Harris; and one sister, Jeanette Stuart.

Herbert J. Freson, age 97, of Huntingburg, passed away at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at his residence.
He was born March 18, 1918 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to John and Anna (Engert) Freson. Mr. Freson was a furniture craftsman for Dolly Madison Industries, where he retired. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and V.F.W. Post #2366; enjoyed woodworking and wine making as hobbies; and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, stationed in Italy during World War II. Herb married Anna Marie Rohlman on May 14, 1946 in Jasper; Anna passed away July 2, 1962. He married his second wife, Rosemary Chappell, on November 30, 1974 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg; Rosemary passed away April 1, 2015. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Fritz Freson, Charlie Freson, Hugo Freson and Bob Freson; two sisters, Mamie Mehringer and Rose Fowler; and one step grandson.

He was born May 8, 1941 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Valentine and Delores (Hackman) Stetter. Robert was a farmer and worked for Kimball International. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; enjoyed gardening; and served in the United States Army as a military policeman at White Sands, New Mexico. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; one brother-in-law, Edwin Hopf; and one sister-in-law, Sandy Stetter.

Hugh Carlisle, Jr., age 80, of Winslow, passed away at 9:18 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2015, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born November 1, 1934 in Pike County, Indiana, to Hugh Carlisle, Sr. and Almeda (Doetker) Carlisle. Mr. Carlisle was a carpenter, metalwright, and auctioneer. He enjoyed working and had a strong work ethic. Hugh was a member of the Carpenter's Local #758 out of Indianapolis; enjoyed boating and fishing; and was an avid deer hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred Carlisle and Larry Carlisle; and three sisters, Patty Krampe, Carol Sue Carlisle and Kaye Drury.

Beatrice L. “Betsy” Aders, 85 of St. Meinrad passed away Friday, October 9, 2015, at St. Charles Health Care Campus in Jasper. She was born February 24, 1930 in St. Meinrad to Frank & Philomena (Rickelman) Werne. She married Russell Aders in St. Meinrad on June 20, 1953. He preceded her in death on March 19 ,1991.

Don Edward Ambrose, 82, of Jasper, passed away, Thursday December 3, 2015, in Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. He was born November 1,1933 in Cleveland, OH. to Edward & Mary (Csvy) Ambrose. Mary was born in Hungary. He married Beverly Peacock on January 23,1955 in Natchez, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on October 28, 1974.
Don was a former boilermaker & pipefitter. He was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Siberia. Don was a member of St. Meinrad Legion Post 366 and was a former Masonic Lodge member in Texas. He was a U.S. Navy Aviation Veteran during the Korean War. He traveled extensively during his enlistment period in the Navy to Guam, Sea Of Japan, Hawaii, Saipan, Sicily, Greece, France, Mediterranean, Italy, Spain, Morocco, and Cuba. He received the National Defense Korean Service Medal, United Nations, China Service Medal. Don was a caregiver much of his life and believed in charity and helping others. He lived much of his life in Baytown, TX. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, crabbing, and shrimping. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. Don enjoyed travel and dogs.
Surviving are one daughter, Mary Denu and husband Kenneth of Jasper; one son, Stephen Ambrose of Catoosa, Oklahoma; four step-daughters, Vicki Sheffeild, Marsha Rossell, Connie Schaeffer, and Tracy Allen Daw all of Spurger, TX.; nineteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Pat Wilson of Luling, TX. He was preceded in death by one brother, Lew Ambrose and one sister, Naomi Seagrest.

Margie Louise Lueken, 80, of Ferdinand, passed away, Wednesday, March 16th at her home. Margie was born March 1, 1936 in Perry County to Henry and Olive (Maebeard) Kirk. She married Robert J. Lueken on September 3, 1955 in Tell City. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2012. Margie was a Homemaker who enjoyed working in the yard, bird watching, flowers and her dog. Margie is survived by two sons, Wendell Lueken of Jasper and Gene (Gina) Lueken of Dale; two daughters, Sharon (Francis) Gogel of Huntingburg and Elizabeth Demuth of Ferdinand; three brothers, Marvin L. Kirk and Robert Eugene Kirk both of Evansville, Eddie Wayne Kirk of Springfield, MO; two sisters, Carolyn Byrley of Springfield, MO. and Nancy Byrley of Evansville; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Margie was preceded in death by her husband Robert and her brother Henry Kirk. Services will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Deacon James King will officiate.  Bernard T. “Bernie” Pund, 76 of Ferdinand, died Friday February 12th at Memorial Hospital & Healthcare Center, Jasper. He was born August 6, 1939 in Ferdinand to Leo & Cornelia (Schum) Pund. He married Mary F. Kerstiens on June 23, 1962 in Saint Ferdinand Catholic Church, Ferdinand.
Surviving are his wife, Mary F. Pund, one daughter, Donna (Andy) Lueken of Ferdinand, one son, Dan (Elaina) Pund of Lake Charles, LA.; four brothers, Harold (Paulita) Pund, & Ken (Susan) Pund, both of Ferdinand, Robert (Janice) Pund of Santa Claus, Tom (Linda) Pund of St. Anthony; two Sisters, Rita Streicher & Jean (Ron) Schulz both of Ferdinand; three grandchilren, Brandon, Rachel, & Zachary Lueken; two step grandchildren & one step great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ethan Lueken.
Bernie was a member of Saint Ferdinand Parish and its St. Joseph’s Sodality. He belonged to the Ferdinand American Legion Post 124. He served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years, and was a member of the Ferdinand Community Center. He retired from Jasper Wood Products. He enjoyed spending time with his children & grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, and IU basketball fan.

Nancy M. Ringeman, 82, of Santa Claus, passed away, Friday, February 12, 2016 at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City. Nancy was born July 5, 1933 to Henry and Dorothea (Wunder) Mather in New Orleans, LA. She married Lee A. Ringeman on May 1, 1954 in New Orleans, LA. Nancy was a homemaker who loved to cook and entertain for family and friends. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Santa Claus and was very active in the parish. Nancy was an avid Bridge player who also loved gardening and reading. Nancy is survived by her husband, Lee of Santa Claus; two daughters, Leanne (Dr. Joseph) LeClere of Tell City, Lisa (John) Haddow of New Orleans, LA.; three sons, Keith (Judy) Ringeman of Gotha FL., Greg (Barbara) Ringeman of West Palm Beach, FL. and Jared Ringeman of Port St. Lucie, FL.; one brother, Robert Henry (Harry) Mather of New Orleans, LA.; two sisters, Pat (Carl) Carlson of Canton, GA. and Dee (Larry) Muenzler of Baton Rouge LA.; nine grandchildren, Jason Ringeman, Lauren Knight, Steven LeClere, Kyli Ringeman, Kristen LeClere, Brett LeClere, Carson Haddow, Eli Haddow and Brianna Ringeman; four great-grandchildren, Ezra Knight, Ruby Knight, Brooks LeClere and Beau LeClere. Nancy was preceded in death by a brother, John Mather. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM CST in St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Santa Claus. Bernard Otto “Bernie” Stallman, 78, of Dale, passed away, Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society-Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. Bernard was born February 4, 1938 in Mariah Hill to Emil and Clara C. (Strobel) Stallman. He married Joyce C. Gehlhausen on January 19, 1963 in St. Martin Of Tours Catholic Church, Siberia. Bernard was a U.S. Army Veteran. Bernard worked at Streicher Construction for 27 years and Goepferich Construction before retiring from Spencer Plastics. Bernard was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and Mariah Hill YMI Council # 582 for 53 years. He was a former member of the Jasper Moose Lodge. He was a lifelong member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Mariah Hill. Bernard received the Simon Brute’ Award in 2009 through Mary Help Of Christians Parish. Bernard is survived by his wife, Joyce Stallman , two daughters, Rebecca Rau of Dale and Anita (Steven) Oldham of Tennessee; one son, Bernard Joseph “BJ” (Pat) Stallman of Evanston; one son-in-law, Rick Evans of Dubois; twelve grandchildren, Christopher Oldham, Thomas Oldham, Brittany Moorhead, Stephanie Stallman, Seth Stallman, Megan Stallman, Gretchen Cribbs, Lelah Jerger, Jaucquline Jackson, Shannon Evans, Dianna Evans. and four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Stallman & companion Anna Wirth of Santa Claus, Eugene Stallman and David (Margie) Stallman both of Ferdinand; one sister, Emily Stallman of Huntingburg. Bernard was preceded in death by two daughters, Martha Kaye Evans and Bernadette Joan Stallman; one son, John Allen Stallman and one brother, Albert Stallman. Leona Schaefer, 93, of Dale, passed away, Monday, January 25, 2016, at Northwood Retirement Community. Leona was born October 3, 1922 in St. Anthony to Hubert and Pauline (Altmeyer) Persohn. She married Hilbert B. Schaefer on April 27, 1943 in St. Anthony Church. Hilbert preceded her in death on October 7, 2001. Leona was retired from the bakery at the Abbey in St. Meinrad. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dale and its Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed word games. Leona is survived by three sons, Ron (Ridy) Schaefer of Dale, Gerald “Jerry” (Ruth) Schaefer, Stan (Linda) Schaefer all of Jasper; one brother, Lawrence (Ramilda) Persohn of Jasper; three sisters, Ardella (Pete) Schneider of Ferdinand, Cora (Jim) Fischer of St. Meinrad and Bonnie Fleck of Jasper; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Hilbert; four brothers, Ray, Ralph, Walter and Joe Persohn; two sisters, Ruth Knies and Madesta Persohn. Kristine Madden, 56, of Santa Claus, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016, at the home of her daughter in Santa Claus. Kristine was born September 9, 1959 to Joe and Violet (Dugas) Partridge in Phoenix, AR. Kristine was employed at Holiday World and was a School Bus Driver for North Spencer School District. Kristine loved spending time with her family and being a Grandma to Wren and Willow. She is survived by her daughter, Ashley (Mike) Satterfield of Santa Claus; her son, Torrin Madden of Santa Claus; two grandchildren, Wren and Willow Satterfield; one brother, Mike (Donna) Partridge of Chandler and one sister, Debra (Jon) Alvey of Chrisney. Kristine was preceded in death by both parents. Funeral services will be Thursday at 4:00 PM CST in St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Santa Claus with burial to follow in Chrisney Cemetery. Robert E. Schipp, 77, of Ferdinand, passed away, Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. Robert was born July 3, 1938 in Ferdinand to Gilbert and Laura (Witte) Schipp. He married Patricia Tempel on August 6, 1983 in St. Ferdinand Church. Robert was retired from E.H. Hamilton Trucking after 48 years of service. He was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. Robert enjoyed taking drives to look at wildlife, reading and playing Sheepshead at the Ferdinand American Legion. Robert is survived by his wife Patricia; one son, Chris (Jenny) Schipp of Ferdinand; one daughter, Katie (Scott) Moeller of Sellersburg; three step-children, Doug Bath of Holland, Eric Bath of North Carolina and Annette Mattingly of Washington; two grandchildren, Lucas Moeller and Gavin Schipp; three sisters, Clarrisa Schipp of Ferdinand, Norma Schipp of Jasper and Sr. Mary Gilbert of Beech Grove; one brother, David (Carolyn) Schipp of Celestine. Pauline C. Kern, 85, of Mariah Hill, passed away, Friday January 15, 2016, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. Pauline was born October 27, 1930, to Paul and Theresia (Tretter) Gogel in Mariah Hill. She married Andrew F. Kern on April 22, 1950 in Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Mariah Hill. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2004. Pauline was a homemaker and also helped on the farm. She was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and its Ladies Sodality. Through Mary Help of Christian Church Pauline was a recipient of the Mother Theresa Award as well as the Simon Brute’ Award. She was a member of the St. Meinrad Legion Post 366 Auxiliary. Pauline enjoyed gardening, quilting, jigsaw puzzles, word searches, playing cards, flowers and bird watching. Pauline is survived by three sons, John (Charlene) Kern, Raymond (Sylvia) Kern and David Kern all of Mariah Hill; six daughters, Rose (Charles “Chuck”) Pund, Charmaine (Marty) Oxford all of Mariah Hill, Mary (Albert “Erfle”) Denning of St. Meinrad, Ruth (James “Moody”) Mattingly of Gentryville, Barbara (Scott) Weisman of Ireland, Martha (Stan) Steckler of Leopold; thirty-eight grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren.  Anastasia C. Vaal, 94, of St. Meinrad, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. Anastasia was born, April 19, 1921, in St. Meinrad to Joseph and Hedwig (Moog) Wiederkehr. She married Urvin H. Vaal on September 30, 1941, in St. Meinrad Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2012. Anastasia was a homemaker who spent much of her life working on the family farm. She was a member of St. Meinrad Parish and its St. Elizabeth’s Sodality. She enjoyed gardening and quilting but most of all spending time with her grandkids. Anastasia is survived by three sons, Delbert Vaal, Charles (Susan) Vaal and Marvin (Mary Jo) Vaal all of St. Meinrad; four daughters, Margie (Al) Rothgerber of Ferdinand, Eileen (Richard) Emerson of Branchville, Diana (Jim) Gogel of St. Meinrad and Brenda (Jerry) Wheatley of Huntingburg; one sister, Josepha Sitzman of Bristow; one brother, Joseph Wiederkehr of St. Meinrad; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Anastasia was preceded in death by her husband, Urvin Vaal; two sisters, Agatha Fette and Mary Miller; one brother, Francis Wiederkehr; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Vaal. Daniel A. “Cotton” Remke, 82 of Ferdinand, died Saturday, January 2, 2016, in Brookside Village Retirement Community in Jasper. He was born February 17, 1933 in Ferdinand to Benno & Philomena “Minnie” (Schaeffer) Remke. He married Peggy Schneiders on May 18, 1957 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Ferdinand. She preceded him in death on March 18, 1995.
Surviving are one daughter, Jean (Jay) Seidl of Jasper; one son, Tim (Susan) Remke of Tell City; two grandchildren, Ryan & Rhett Baumeister; one great-granddaughter, Lydia Baumeister; one sister, Shirley Remke of Ferdinand.
Daniel retired from DMI Furniture in 1996. He was a member of Saint Ferdinand Parish and Ferdinand American Legion Post 124. He was an avid baseball fan, especially the Cincinnati Reds. He also was an avid IU basketball fan. He played for the Ferdinand Cardinals, and played baseball in the Army in Panama. He enjoyed playing sheephead.

Romilda “Millie” Oser, 80, of Ferdinand, passed away, Thursday, December 24, 2015, at 3:10 PM at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. Romilda was born March 3, 1935 in St. Meinrad to Andrew and Agnes (Zoglman) Sitzman. Romilda is survived by three daughters, Deborah Conen of Huntingburg, Glenda Jones (Frank) of Terra Haute, Brenda Ferguson (David) of Dubois; one son, Alan Oser (Krista) of Ferdinand; one sister, Anna Kern of Jasper; seven grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one step great-grandchild. Romilda was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Nichole, Nicholas and Kyle Jones; one sister, Rose Marie Pfeiffer; three brothers, Roman, Ronald and Daniel Sitzman. Romilda was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish. She enjoyed quilting, baking, telling jokes, bingo and being with her family and friends. Hilda T. Ebert, 92, of Ferdinand, passed away, Sunday, May 17, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. Hilda was born April 16, 1923 in Adeyville, IN. to Joseph and Catherine (Jacob) Schaefer. Hilda married Othmar J. Ebert on May 22, 1945 in St. Meinrad. Othmar passed away on August 19, 2014.
Hilda is survived by one son, Sylvan Ebert and wife Linda of Greenwood, IN.; four daughters, Norma Murray and husband Jim of Kokomo, Diane Balbach and husband David of Dale, Sandy Meyer and husband Steve of Lexington, KY., Terri Carson and husband Jeff of Carmel, IN.; a son-in-law, Gene Braunecker of Huntingburg; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren also survive. Hilda was preceded in death her husband Othmar; a daughter Marlene Braunecker; five brothers, Raymond, Robert, Hilbert, Richard and Othmar Schaefer.
Hilda was a homemaker and helped her husband work on the family farm. She was a member of the St. Meinrad American Legion Auxiliary, Saint Ferdinand Church Parish and Daughters of Isabella. Hilda was also a member of Ferdinand Senior Citizens. She was an avid reader who enjoyed making quilts and playing cards.


Leo J. Balbach, 87, of Mariah Hill, passed away Friday, September 25, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. Leo was born, March 17, 1928 in Mariah Hill to Anton and Bertha (Jochim) Balbach. He married Gladys Reckelhoff on June 6, 1953 in Saint Ferdinand Church. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2002. Leo was a retired dairy farmer. Leo served 2 years in the U.S Army and was stationed at Fort Benning, GA. He was a member of the Ferdinand American Legion Post 124, St. Vincent Depaul Society and Mary Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. Leo was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts. Leo enjoyed gardening and wine making. Sundays were a special time for Leo as he would spend time visiting with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Leo is survived by two sons, Ray Balbach and wife Lori, Ed Balbach and wife Donna all of Mariah Hill; three daughters, Sharon Klueh and husband Mark of Jasper, Mary Weyer and husband Larry, Jeanne Schaeffer and husband David all of Ferdinand; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Leo was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and William Balbach.
Funeral services will be Monday September 28th at 10:00 AM CDT in Mary Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. Visitation will be Sunday, September 27th from 2-7:00 PM CDT at Mary Help of Christians Church and Monday from 9:00 AM CDT until time of services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mary “Helen” Cox, 77 of Bristow passed away Thursday October 22nd in Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City. She was born August 20, 1938 in Perry County Indiana to William & Hilda (Eades) Huff. She married Theodore “Ted” Cox on July 9, 1958 in Mount Carmel, IL. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2008.
Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Scott of Bristow, 2 grand-daughters, Shannon Hedinger & Mandy Scott both of Bristow. 4 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, William Earl Huff and wife JoAnn of New Albany, 1 sister, Marie Bolin of Tell City. She was preceded in death a son, Steven Ray Cox, brothers, Raymond & James Huff, sister, Irene Hockenberry.
Mary was a former employee at Farbest and Grief Brothers. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, she was an avid reader and she enjoyed squirrel hunting.

Hilda Anna Davis, 84, of Mariah Hill, passed away, Saturday, June 20th at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. Hilda was born January 28, 1931 in Jasper, to Otto and Florentina (Lindauer) Tretter. She married Paul Davis on October 15, 1955 in Huntingburg United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1995. Hilda enjoyed quilting and traveling with her husband. She was a bank teller at First National Bank Huntingburg.
Hilda is survived by a sister, Vernita Burgdorf and husband John of Huntingburg. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Hilda was preceded in death by a son, Steven Payne and a sister, Dorothy Nord.

Carol J. Egloff, 59 of Lamar, In. Passed away Sunday July 12, 2015 in Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, Ky. She was born December 11, 1955 in Perry County, Indiana to Arlie & Edna (Hessig) Lambeck. She married William “Bill” Egloff on November 7, 1976 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. He preceded her in death January 18, 2013.
Carol was a member of Trinity United Church Of Christ in Fulda. She was a Business Office Assistant at Professional Care Rehab Center in Dale. She was preceded in death by her father, Arlie Lambeck.
Surviving are 1 son, Brian Egloff of Lamar, her mother and step-father, Edna & Carl Schwindel of Troy. 2 brothers, Dennis Lambeck and wife Maureen of Lamar and Rick Lambeck of Mariah Hill. 5 step-sisters and 2 step-brothers.

Hilda M. Egloff, 88 of Ferdinand passed away Tue. August 18th at her home. Hilda was born January 24, 1927 in Ferdinand to William & Ida (Bickwermert) Senninger. She married Clarence H. Egloff on June 22, 1948 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1990.
Hilda was a former secretary for Egloff Trucking in Ferdinand, and a homemaker. She was a member of Saint Ferdinand Parish and its St. Anne’s Sodality. She enjoyed playing cards, and being with family & friends. She was preceded in death by 1 brother, Roman Senninger.
Surviving are 1 son, Marvin “Merf” Egloff and his wife Charlene of Ferdinand, 1 grandson, Jeff Egloff and his wife Stephanie of Wilsonville, Oregon. 2 great-granddaughters, Erin & Jenna Egloff.

Hilliard “Max” Englert, 89 of Ferdinand, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. He was born March 26, 1926 in Ferdinand to Adolph & Rose (Gehlhausen) Englert. He married Pauline Kleiser on August 21, 1948 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
Surviving are his wife, Pauline Englert; two sons, Denny Englert and his wife Becky of Ferdinand, and Tom Englert and wife Cheryl of Jasper; six grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Ramona Lindauer of Jasper; two brothers, Floyd Englert and wife Ruth and Sylvan Englert and wife Rosie both of Ferdinand.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Leatrise Englert. Hilliard retired as a mechanic at Bolte’s Service Center in Ferdinand. He was a WWII Army Veteran and served in the Philippines. He was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish, Jasper Veterans of Foreign Wars # 673 & Ferdinand American Legion Post 124. He was a retired fireman with the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Dept. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and making homebrew & wine.

Carol Jean Fetter, 70 os St. Meinrad passed away Friday July 10th at 8:20 PM in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper. Carol was born January 23, 1945 in Mariah Hill, In. to Gilbert Sr. and Margaret (Spayd) Lindauer. She married Delbert O. Fetter on January 23, 1965 in Mary Help Of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2012.
Carol was employed at Nancy Hanks Elementary for 22 years. She was a member of St. Meinrad Parish and it’s Ladies Sodality, Fulda Sportsman Club and St. Henry Catholic Knights Of Columbus. She enjoyed Sewing, gardening, cooking, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and 1 grandchild.
Surviving are 4 daughters, Debbie Buechler and husband Ron, Lisa Dale and husband Brian both of Ferdinand, Brenda Messmer of Huntingburg, and Denise Palmer and husband Mark of Haysville. 2 sons, Mark Fetter and wife Tina of Huntingburg, and Tim Fetter and wife Jodi of St. Meinrad. 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. 1 sister, Roberta Chapman and husband Carl of Tell City. 6 brothers, Gilbert Lindauer Jr. and wife Jan of Evansville, Jim Lindauer and wife Shirley of Elko, GA., David Lindauer and wife Alice of Ferdinand, Robert “Bob” Lindauer and wife Cindy of Dale, Pat Lindauer of Mariah Hill, and Frank Lindauer of St. Meinrad.

Geneva C. Gelarden, 88 of Dale passed away Monday November 2nd in Scenic Hills Care Center, Ferdinand. She was born November 24, 1926 in St. Marks (Perry County) to Alfred L. & Anna C. (Litkenhus) Dupont. She married Earl N. Gelarden on July 1, 1950 in New Boston, Indiana.
Surviving are her husband, Earl N. Gelarden, four sons, Michael W. Gelarden and wife Pearl of Fulda, Mark V. Gelarden and wife Dorothy Ann, Daniel J. Gelarden, and James P. Gelarden and wife Jenny all of Evanston. Nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. One sister, Sister Mary Dupont of Evansville, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Dupont-Wright of Owensboro, KY. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Madonna Kay Gelarden and a brother, Earl Dupont.
Geneva was a member of St. Nicholas Parish in Santa Claus. She was a homemaker and a former secretary at Servel Corporation in Evansville. She enjoyed winters in Florida, playing dominos and Euchre, bowling and enjoyed being with her family.
Funeral services 10:00 AM CST Thursday in St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Santa Claus, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8:00 PM CST Wednesday & 8 to 9:30 AM CST Thursday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Catholic Church or the wishes of the family.


Hubert “Huby” Goepferich, Jr. 90 of St. Meinrad, formerly of Ferdinand passed away at his home, Thursday July 2 ,2015 at 10:42 AM. Hubert was born December 5, 1924 in Dale, Indiana to Hubert Sr. & Lena (Stallman) Goepferich. He married Romilda Petry on June 24, 1947 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.
Hubert was a WWII Army Veteran and served in the 8th Cavalry Regiment. He was in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. He was a member of Dale American Legion. He was a lifelong construction worker and was foreman at several construction companies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to local auctions.
Hubert is survived by his wife Romilda Goepferich; 3 daughters, Elaine Begle and husband Richard of Dale, Susan Vaal and husband John of St. Meinrad, and Janet Mullen and husband Hilbert of Ferdinand; one son, Hubert Goepferich III and wife Charlene of Cincinnati, OH; ten grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna May Gogel of Huntingburg. Services and visitation will be held Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 2-6:00 PM EST at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Reverend Bob Duley will officiate.


Aline Gogel, 88, of Mariah Hill, passed away, Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. Aline was born April 28, 1927, in Ferdinand to Alois and Cecelia (Seger) Oeding. She married Claude P. Gogel on September 16, 1950, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. Claude preceded her in death on April 13, 2013. Aline was a homemaker. She was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and it's Ladies Sodality. Aline was also was a member of Jasper VFW Post 673 Ladies Auxiliary. Aline enjoyed quilting and gardening. She especially enjoyed growing geraniums. Aline was a wonderful cook who learned to cook at a young age and enjoyed doing so for her family her entire life.
Aline is survived by three sons, David Gogel, Daniel Gogel and wife Lori all of Mariah Hill, Kevin Gogel and wife Missy of Indianapolis; three daughters, Karen Boeglin and husband Leroy of Bretzville, Mary Gogel of Mariah Hill, Kristine Eckert and husband Steve of St. Henry; one brother, Jerome Oeding and wife Joan of Jasper; four sisters, Cyrilla Betz and husband Joseph of Huntingburg, Rita Altman and husband Dennis and Joan Oeding all of Ferdinand, Almeda Hurst and husband Edward of Mariah Hill; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Aline was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Gogel and a brother James N. Oeding.
Visitation will be Monday from 2-8:00 PM CDT, at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Mariah Hill and also Tuesday from 9:00 AM CDT, until time of services. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM CDT Tuesday in Mary Help of Christians Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mary Help of Christian Catholic Church or a favorite charity.


Anthony R. “Tony” Hassfurther, 56 of Ferdinand passed away Friday, August 7, 2015, in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center, Jasper. He was born January 12, 1959 in Jasper, IN. to Linus & Darlene (Hasenour) Hassfurther.
Tony was a former construction worker for several companies in the area, and a farmer. He enjoyed horses, and horse drawn farm equipment, thrashing wheat, storytelling and jokes. He was a member of Early Days Antique Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Amanda Koch and husband Aaron of New Boston and Ashley Kellems and husband Jesse of St. Meinrad. His parents Linus & Darlene Hassfurther of Ferdinand. Three grandchildren, Logan & Jacob Hockenberry, and Vanesa Kellems. Two sisters, Sheila Fleck and husband Cliff of Jasper, Cindy Hassfurther of Ferdinand. Three brothers, Russell Hassfurther and wife Tina, Bill Hassfurther, and Andy Hassfurther and wife Brenda all of Ferdinand. Seven nieces & nephews also survive.
