GORDON T. PARKS WAS COPY EDITOR FOR THE STAR

Graveside services for Gordon Thomas Parks, 85, Cincinnati, formerly of Indianapolis and Huntingburg, retired copy editor for The Indianapolis Star and former newspaper owner, will be at 11 a. m. Nov. 7, 1997, in Fairmount Cemetery, Huntingburg.  Calling will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 7 in Nass & Son Funeral Home, Huntingburg. 

He died Nov. 5.

Col. Parks was copy editor eight years for The Indianapolis Star, retiring in 1976.

Previously, he worked for Construction Digest, The Louisville Courier and Journal and owned newspapers in Huntingburg, Rising Sun and Hazelton.

An Army veteran of World War II, Col. Parks was part of a military group assigned to assist Chinese President Chiang Kai-shek in his effort to drive the Communists out of China.  Col. Parks retired from the United Stated Air Force.

 He was a 1929 graduate of Huntingburg High School and a1936 graduate of Indiana University and a member of Delta Chi fraternity, earning honors for work on the Daily Student.

He was the widower of Eva West Parks. 

Survivors:  daughters MaryAlice and Barbara Parks, Susan Tarter; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
