Pace Robinson Cemetery
Lat 38º 30' 25" N  Long 86º 41' 31" W
This cemetery has also been called Robinson - Pace Cemetery, Robinson Cemetery, or just Pace Cemetery. The land on which this cemetery lies once belonged to Edward Pace, a son William and  Mary Pace. Some of the earliest burials here were Pace children.  By 1850 most Pace families had moved west. Edward died 1874 in Iowa.

To reach this cemetery from Hillham, take Hillham Norton Rd South 3/4 mile to CR 875N. CR 875 ends 1/8 mile at farm gage. The cemetery is located approximately 1/2 mile east on private land. Permission Required. Access is through pasture and field. The land slopes upward and footing may be uneven. There is  no roadway.

These inscriptions were read in 1933, 1987, and 2003 by George W. Milburn, William Henderson Wininger, Marvin Beatty, Deborah Silvera and Dubois County Genealogical Society. I read and photographed the rapidly deteriorating stones in 2005 and 2006. Previous transcriptions are referenced where applicable to provide a more complete listing.
The present
farm owner keeps the site mowed and accessible. He told me that as a boy, on Memorial Day, he remembers seeing American flags in an area of the cemetery where there are no visible stones or remnants. Where no photo  is shown, data from previous transcriptions has been used. There are many grave sites with no stones. Mr. Milburn  stated in 1933 that there were about 50 unmarked graves. Many markers in this cemetery are made of whetstone. It is an extremely durable material comprised of conpressed layers of river silt, quarried near Hindostan, Martin County. The layers sometimes separate, which may acccount for some of the "blank" markers below.
