MORGAN and MORGAN STATION

Jackson Township - This would have been south of Wallace near the Parke County line - believe it was on the northeast corner of 234 & the road to turn to Wallace (341) - anyone help me with that, it'd be awesome :) History of Parke County, Indiana says that "The first school house we find to have been erected on Wolf Creek in 1829, with Nathaniel Morgan as teacher." Nathaniel was found in both the Parke and Fountain County census records in 1850 as he owned property in Section 36 where I believe the school was - purchased land in Sec 36 Jackson Twp, Fountain Co Mar 19, 1830 (80 acres) -- later purch. 80 more adjacent acres June 17, 1833 and 40 acres Dec 29, 1836. He was a teacher, farmer and a Justice of the Peace. He had a total of 10 children so he needed a school :) My grandmother said that she remembered the school when little and she was born in 1895, so it must have been a long-standing used one -- Sowers, Goodings and other families attended there. When Nathaniel passed away his books and school papers sold for $6.50 in 1872 - sure wish I had those and a picture of the school :( kbz - just read p 76 - 2013 History of Fountain County of a Morgan Station school that sounds like it was the same place only across the road. Had heard there were at one time three Morgan schools. Fairly sure (gotta' find some proof of that) my ancestor, Nathaniel built the one on the Northeast side. He was listed in more than one census as a school teacher. Morgan Station is on the opposite side of the road. This one called Morgan Station according to above history was on land deeded by Allen Gooding in 1877 and deeded back to Zula Gooding in 1923. "The last school to be taught at Morgan was 1914-1915." There is a picture of the building (Morgan Station) but from my grandmother's (Sarah Hazel Morgan Smith) description this was not the same one. Boy, do I need to get busy on this - anyone know about this or any of the schools, let me know.
