"Elisha Pithoud, farmer Harveysburg. was b. July 4, 1833 in Sug Cr Twp, Parke Co IN whither his parents Francis & Catherine (Moore) Pithoud, nat. of Scioto Co Oh had emigrated about 1830 and who in 1857 moved to Ft Co bought 200 acres of land and d. he Aug 4, 1859 and she the following Sept. He was a strong dem. and contended for his party till his death. He was trustee of Sug Cr Twp sev. times. Elisha lived at home till of age. He then worked out byt he mo. till he was able to buy a piece of ground. His father then gave him 40 acres and with this as a beg. he added till he owns 340 acres - 110 acres in Pk and 230 acres in Fountain County with good buildings and well stocked. Mr. Pithoud has been a life-long dem. He was marr. Jan 3, 1858 to Marg. Ratcliff, daughter of William and Marg. (Wilkison) Ratcliff. She was born in Parke County June 2,4 1839. Her parents emigrated from Ohio to Parke county early. Mr. Pithoud is a Mason and an Odd-Fellow. He and wife are members of the Christian or New Light Church. They have 8 children: Juliett, Marilda A, Hannah J, Margaret C,, Delphia, Amie J, Delsie O and Lemuel E.
