Elias Riley, farmer, Hillsboro, son of William H and Mary Ann (Mondy) Riley was born in Richland Twp Jan 10, 1841. He was enrolled March 1865 Co A 154th Ind Vols. to serve one year or during the war and did provost and garrison duty in the Shenandoah Valley until mustered out at Stpehenson Va Aug 20, 1865. He was disbanded at Indianapolis. He was married to Samantha SHORT Sept 23, 1866., the daughter of Aaron Short born Jan 29, 1845 having two children: James Edward born Sept 13, 1869; Junietta Jan 24, 1872. His second marriage was with Miss Margaret Smith, Oct 1875. She was born April 25, 1848. Their issue have been Carrie born Oct 4, 1876 and Alfarett June 25, 1878. Both parents are members of the Campbellite church. Mr. Riley united in 1867 and Mrs. Riley 10 years ago. He has a farm of 70 acres and is a democrat.
