Isaac L. RILEY, farmer, Hillsboro, was b. in Hamilton Co Ohio Feb 4, 1837 and was the 3rd child of a family of 9 children by William H. and Mary Ann (MONDY) Riley. In the autumn of 1840 the family removed from Hamilton Co OH and made a home on Sec 36 T 20 R7 Richland Twp, where his grandfather and grandmother Mondy and his father died, the latter in 1871. Mr. Riley was married Jan 29, 1857 to Mary Jane RILEY (sic) who was born Aug 13, 1837. Only 3 of the 8 children born to them are living: the eldest died unnamed; Aldora born Feb 5, 1859 died May 11, 1868; William Alonzo Feb 14, 1861; George Shepard April 11, 1864 died Aug 4, 1865; Eliz. Ann born Aug 12, 1866 died Aug 25, 1867; Mary Josephine born July 18, 1869 died Aug 12, 1872; Effie Jane April 22, 1874 and Freddie Murray Dec 12, 1878. Mr. Riley was enrolled March 10, 1865 in Co A 154th Ind Vols for one year or during the war and served in theShenandoah Valley until mustered out at Stephenson VA Aug 20, 1865. He was disbanded at Indianpolis. Mr. Riley joined the United Brethren Church 1848 at the age of 14; but 7 years ago he was admitted into the odd fellows, whereupon the church, whose rules he had transceded dismissed him from its communion. He then united with the Campbellite church, of which his wife has been a member 30 years. He was constable of Cain Twp 2 years. He lived 5 years in Newtown, 4 years in Hillsboro, and 4 years in Waynetown. In politics he is a Democrat.
