WWII-KIA-GARDINER, Dale

Mr. and Mrs. Zeke Evans, of Covington have received a telegram telling of the death of their grandson, Dale Gardiner in action in France on August 18.  Dale was born in Covington in January 1915 and had been in the service about 10 months. After receiving his training in Florida, he was sent to England in April and was a member of the invasion army which invaded France on D-Day.  About 10 years ago, he married Miss Alfreta
Barkley. Both were employed in Detroit when he was called to the service. Survivors besides the wife and parents are two sisters, Mrs. Loren Yeagy of Detroit, Mrs. Wayne Marsh, also of Detroit and the grandparents, Mrs. Oliver Gardiner and Mr. and Mrs. Zeke Evans of Covington   --- transcribed by kbz
