WWII-MI-SHADE, Clark

Source: The Veedersburg News Friday May 11, 1945

Dear Bert:

I am many thousand miles away but the Veedersburg News has done a lot to bring me closer to home.  For a time I received no papers and when they did come I always got three or four at a time. Now I get the News pretty
regular though a few weeks late it is a welcome sight. Other Hoosiers are in this outfit and many times get joys out of the Veedersburg paper.

I am now with the 9th army and doing my best to get this over with. We got to eat to keep going so some of the fellows shot three deers we surprisingly stumped upon and the result was a big barbecue.  We found a candy factory upon one of our adventures and as usual got our share.

The weather is playing its usual tricks, but so far have had some very good conditions.  I have noticed the News is coming through my old APO number I would like to have it sent through my new one. Its getting late so guess I will close. Just keep Veedersburg on the map and the paper coming.

Sincerely, Sgt. Clark Shade
