JACKMAN, William Edward

William Edward Jackman, age 58, of the Tree Springs community on Covington Rt 2, died unexpectedly of a heart attack about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, while checking the flood gates on his farm. Born Feb.15, 1905, in Bridgeton, he was the son of Charles S. and Martha Ann Mason Jackman. He was married Aug 22, 1925, to Josephine Roccia, who survives. He had resided in Parke County until 10 years ago when he moved to his present home. He had been a farmer most of his life, but had been employed for the past 10 years at the Radio Materials Co. in Attica. Survivors include his wife; two sons, William E. Jr. of Lafayette and Michael of Hammond; two daughter, Mrs Martha Blake of Brookston and Mrs Rozell Norris of Calumet City; five brothers, Harvey of Gary, Fred, of Bridgeton, John of Rockville, Orin of Greencastle and Frank of Linden; three sisters, Mrs Mary Lawson of Montezuma, Mrs Emma Heber of Indianapolis and Mrs. Eva Lawson of Rockville; and13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Glenn Ray officiated. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Pall bearers were: Howard Werdton, Edward Story, Richard Asher, Joseph Riley, Thorey Johnson and Sherman Lefton.
