JACKSON, James Ralph

James Ralph Jackson, age 45, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov 12, at his home on Covington Tr 2. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Jackson was born June 21, 1919, at Elk Creek, Va., the son of Robert H. and Cleo Burris Jackson. He was married Sept 7,1940 to Anna Lillard, who survives. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Elk Creek and a veteran of World War II,m having served overseas with the U. S. Army in the Pacific Theatre of war. He attended school at AIndianola, Ill., and Elk Creek. He had been employed with the Dan Rivers Mills co., and the Dupont Co., for several years. He came to Covington in 1956 and had been employed in the Covington plant of the Olinn-Mathieson Co ., since Feb. 1956. He was an engineer in the power house there. He is survived by ; his widow; his mother in Elk Creek; one brother, Richard Jackson of Ridgefarm, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Katharyn Parks of Salem, Va. He was preceded in death by his father and an infant son. Funeral services were held at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov 13. The Rev. Glenn Ray, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Covington, officiated. The body was sent to the Sugg-Harris Funeral Home in Leaksville, N.C. where services were conducted at 3: 30 p.m. Sunday, Nov 15. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Draper, N.C. Pallbearers were: Clyde Hall, Kenneth Hall, Homer Vernon, Herman Hopper, Red Grubb and Jim Cannaday.
