MARSHALL — Louis F. Jackson, age 78, who owned and operated L. F. Jackson & Co. Drug Store here for 40 years, brother of Earl Jackson of near Veedersburg, died unexpectedly at 3:20 p.m. Sunday, July 27, in Community Hospital in Indianapolis after a brief illness. An Illinois native, he was born May 1, 1891, to William and Maggie Hide Jackson. He was married Feb. 5, 1921 to Gladys Phillips, who died May 20, 1963. Mr. Jackson has served as clerk treasurer of Marshall since 1941. He was a member of the Marshall Federated Church. Prominent in Masonry, he was a past master of Lodge 648, F & AM, a past worthy patron of Chapter 438, OES, and grand chairman of District 8 in Indiana of the International Order of Rainbow Girls. He served as pop of Marshall Rainbow Assembly 41 and honorary pop of Russellville Rainbow Assembly 135. He received the honorary degree Grand Cross of Color on June 29, 1954. He also was a past president and secretary of the Marshall Lions Club, a member of the Parke County Past Masters Association and Parke County and Wallace Low Twelve Clubs, and he was a charter member of the Turkey Run Rotary Club. Surviving are: one son, Charles of Huntington Woods, Mich.; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Rosemary) Van Lieu of Indianapolis; one brother, Earl of near Veedersburg; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Jackson of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Albert Pippenger of Frankfort; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Federated Church here. The Rev. Lester Niles officiated and burial was in Poplar Grove Cemetery.  --waw
