Crawfordsville, Aug 27, 1943 – Thomas A. Jackson, age 81, retired farmer who operated a small truck patch near the top of the hill just east of Oak Hill cemetery died suddenly about 7:30 o’clock Thursday morning while seated at the wheel of his small truck.  Mr. Jackson had gone to his garden at the top of the hill to gather some produce in company with Floyd T. Stout living close by and also managing a small garden from which he sold produce about town.  After they had gathered some vegetables from their gardens, they stopped for a moment in front of Stout’s home while he went inside to change clothes.  Upon his return, he found Jackson dead.  Dr. Thomas Z. Ball, Montgomery County Coroner who was hastily called said he believed Jackson died from a cerebral hemorrhage. The body was taken to the Proffitt & Son Funeral Home.  Jackson lived with his daughter Dottie Jackson near the old Valley Mills on the Lafayette Road.  Jackson who had been a farmer and stock buyer for a number of years in the Kingman neighborhood had resided with his daughter here for the past ten years or more. Jackson was twice married.  He is survived by six children from his first marriage, four sons and two daughters. The sons are Straudie H. Jackson of Albuquerque, NM; Pearly Jackson and Clodia Jackson both of Danville, Ill; Cecil Jackson of Kingman; Lulu wife of Reed Alexander living at 506 Illinois street here and the daughter, Dottie with whom he resided.  - kbz
