VEEDERSBURG — Herman Lester
Jeffries, 83, Veedersburg, died at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001 in St.
Vincent Williamsport Hospital. He was born Aug. 28, 1917 in Green County, Ky.,
the son of Willie and Myrtle Kidd Jeffries. He married Marie Pierce Nov. 23,
1923 in Glasgow, Ky. She survives. He worked for R. M. Horner Auto Sales in
Crawfordsville until his retirement in 1977. He enjoyed visiting with his
friends at the local restaurant. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in
Covington. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter, Linda Carol (Tom)
Zick, Veedersburg; two sons, Mike (Alice) Jeffries, Attica and Dannie Jeffries,
Veedersburg; a brother, Orbrey Jeffries, Glasgow, Ky.; three grandchildren; a
step grandson; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a
sister. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in Dickerson Funeral Home,
Veedersburg, with the Rev. Bob Hamblen officiating. Burial was in Riverside
Cemetery, Attica. – jlr
