Jacob K. JERMAN (German?) was born in Fountain County, Indiana, Nov 6, 1833 and departed this life in Little River Nov 3, 1904; aged 70 years 11 months 28 days. He was married to Nancy C. Bailey in Fountain County, Indiana on the 29th day of June 1854.  Five children were born to this union: one, an infant son, died in infancy. Two sons, two daughter and a wife are left to mourn the departure of a kind and loving father and husband. He was a long time sufferer, but little did he murmur or complain. He was a member of the ME Church of Little River and assured his loved ones that he was going home to glory. He was a true and enthusiastic member of Como Lodge No 194, Kings of Pythias and his funeral was conducted according to the ritual of that order. The funeral service was held at the ME Church at 2 o’clock pm Saturday Nov 5.  The sermon was preached by Rev. JA Holmes, prayer was made by Elder Wm. R. Fuller and Rev. GD Stromire read the Scripture lesson. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community during their deep sorrow.

Resolutions of Respect
At a meeting of Como Lodge No 194, Knights of Pythias, held at their hall on Monday evening Nov 7, 1904 the following resolutions were adopted;
Whereas, it has pleased Almighty God in His wise providence to remove from our midst our esteemed brother, Jacob K. Jerman, therefore be it – Resolved, that in his death our order has lost one of its most faithful members, a worthy companion, an earnest and conscientious K of P.  Generous to a fault he never forgot the admonition of our order that the hand of a K of P should always be open to a brother. He endeared himself to his brethren by his personal exemplification of Friendship, Charity and Benevolence, the three great fundamental principles of our order. Be it further … Resolved, that the lodge deeply mourn the loss of so worthy a member and to his bereaved family we tender our sympathy and sincere condolence, assuring them of our faith that one so worthy can not be without his reward… Resolved, that these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of our lodge; that a copy be transmitted to the family of our deceased brother and that a copy be furnished the Little River Monitor for publication…WD Greenbank, MD Baxter, JH Frankeberger, Committee
