Wingate—Nellie Jewell, 69, Wingate, died at 9 a.m. EDT Sunday, April 2, 1989, in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Franklin (Margaret) Moore, Arlington, Va.
She was born Sept. 22, 1919 in Green County, Ky. She was married Dec. 26, 1936 near Odell, to Lester Jewell, who preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1975.
She had worked in food preparation at Purdue Memorial Union and also worked in food preparation at Coal Creek School before retiring in 1975.
She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Crawfordsville.
Surviving besides her daughter, Mrs. Moore, are another daughter, Mrs. Terry (Mary Jane) Moore, Ellicott City, Md.; two sons, Frank, Route 1, New Richmond, and Charles Donald, stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Hawaii; one brother, Russell Foley, Lafayette; a sister, Audry Stants, Lafayette; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Thomas Funeral Home, Waynetown. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Thomas Chapel with Brother Steve Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wingate. – thanks to S
