HILLSBORO -- Donald Johns, 56, of Hillsboro, died Monday (Oct. 8, 1973) at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He had been a patient a short time after being stricken at his home. Death was attributed to natural causes. Born Sept. 16, 1917, in Hillsboro, he was the son of Orville and Von Nine Johns. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High and was a veteran of service with the Army Engineers during World War II in the Philippines. He had been employed as a bookkeeper for the Osborn Lumber Co. and was a member of the Christian Church, Masonic Lodge 385 and Boosters Club. He had never married. Survivors include two brothers, Paul of Denver, Colo., and Robert N. of Hillsboro. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerome McCoy will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.  --waw

HILLSBORO – Donald Johns, 56, who worked as a bookkeeper for Osborn Lumber Co. here, died suddenly Monday morning in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill. He was a member of Hillsboro Christian Church, Hillsboro Masonic Lodge 385 F & AM and Hillsboro Boosters Club. He was born Sept. 11, 1917, at Hillsboro, a son of Oville and Von Nine Johns. He was graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1936 and served with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Philippines during World War II. Surviving are two brothers, Paul of Denver, Colo., and Robert N. of Hillsboro. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Crumley-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerome McCoy officiating.
