Dr. Earl Emerson Johnson, age 68, physician in Covington since 1930, died at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday, Nov 4, at his residence 805 Sixth Street. he had been in failing health for several years and was seriously ill for about a month. He was born July 7 1885 at Johnsonville, Steuben township, Warren county, the son of Andrew J. and Emma Bever Johnson. He was married Dec 5 19o05to LaVina McCarty who survives. Dr. Johnson attended school in Steuben township and business School at Danville, Ill., and was a graduate of the Kansas City School of Medicine. He started to practice medicine in West Lebanon prior to entering the service in World War I, where he served overseas 18 months as a Lieutenant in the Medical Corps. In 1918 Dr. Johnson resumed his medical practice in Kingman where he remained until 1930. He then moved to Covington where he practiced until the time of his death. He was currently serving as the City Health officer and he was the examining physician for the Fountain County Selective Service board here. He was a member of the Fountain-Warren medical Society,, Indiana and American medical Associations, Aesculapaen Medical Society of Wabash Valley, member of the staffs of St. Elizabeth and Lake View Hospitals in Danville, Ill., member of Kinman Lodge No. 314 F&AM, member of the Low Twelve Club of Wallace, member of the Fountain County Old Guard Post No. 2395, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Fulton Banta Post No. 29`1, American Legion of Covington. Surviving Dr. Johnson, in addition to his wife, are: three sons, Harrell H., Covington; Theodore E., Kinman, and H. Paul, Sarasota, Fla.' five grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd Johnson of West Lebanon and Hurbert Johnson of Corona, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. The body will remain at the Bodine & Shelby funeral Home here for services Saturday morning, Nov. 7, at 10:30 o'clock. the Rev. Elwood Anderson, pastor of the Covington Methodist church, will officiate and burial will Be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Fountain County Old Guard Post No. 2395, VFW and Fulton-Banta Post 291, American Legion Post. --- thanks bd :)
