Wingate - Carl Willard Jones, 66, living a mile west of Wingate, died at 11 p.m. Saturday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville after a short illness. He had been hospitalized since Wednesday. He was a native of Fountain County, born April 13, 1902 to Alonzo and Viola Suitors Jones. He was married in Mellott on Jan 30, 1929 to Sylvia Marie Miller, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Dale L. and Dallas W. Jones of Wingate; four grandchildren, David, Mark, Carla and Carl Jones, and nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Orville in 1960 and Glenn in 1967, preceded Mr. Jones in death. A graduate of Newtown High School, he attended Purdue University for a time and was active here in 4-H Club leadership work. Mr. Jones was a member of Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ, of Mercer Lodge 633, F & A M, of which he was a past master, and of OES Chapter 336, all of this community. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown, with Rev. Homer Hunsicker of Lebanon, formerly of here, officiating, assisted by Rev. Jean McCan. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Masonic rites will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where friends may call.

Wingate - Funeral services for Carl W. Jones were held at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. Home Hunsinger of Lebanon officiating. Rev. Hunsinger is a former pastor of the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ. He was assisted by Rev. Jean R. McCan of the Wingate United Methodist Church. Organ selections by Mrs. Millard Cheek included " Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." "Beyond the Sunset" and "When They Ring Those Golden Bells." Pallbearers who also assisted with flowers, were Wiley Robbins, Estel Cheek, Wayne Heckman, Carlos Goode, Richard Cheek and Clarence Rhodes. The Masonic memorial service was held with 23 brothers in attendance. Roy Meharry served as acting worshipful master, Byron Cowan as chaplain and W. Morris McCulloch carried the Three Great Lights. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Wingate
