LAIRD, Eva Furr

Covington -- Mrs. Eva Laird, 89, died at 11 p.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill where she had been a patient since last Sunday. She had been in failing health several months and seriously ill since she was injured in a fall on Sunday. Mrs. Laird, a resident of Covington since 1938 had been a member of the New Liberty Christian Church since age 14. She also was a member of the Willing Workers Class at the Fifth Street Church of Christ at Covington. Born Sept 20, 1876, south of Veedersburg, she was a duaghter of Marshall and Elizabeth Wilson Furr. She was married Oct 9, 1898 to Edward Laid. Mr. Laird died in 1934. Surviving are two sons, Hershel of Indianapolis and Harry of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Mrs. Oveta Klage and Mrs. Dolly Grubb, both of Covington and a brother, Luke Furr of Newtown. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Ada Rusk who died in 1962 and four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at New Liberty Christian Church with Revs. Harold Fogel and E.E. McConnell officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery at Hillsboro. Friends may pay their respects at Hegg Funeral Home at Covington after noon Saturday. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services.


Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.
