Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Myers were called to Hillsboro Saturday to the funeral of the  former’s sister,  MRS. REBECCA LAIRD,  who died very suddenly at her room in a Kankakee café where she was employed.   Following is a brief account of her demise as chronicled by an exchange: “Friends and relatives in Hillsboro were greatly shocked when the news of the death of Mrs. Rebecca Laird of Kankakee, Ill., was received early Thursday morning.   Mrs. Laird had not enjoyed good health for several months, but was in her usual health and had completed her day’s work on Wednesday without expressing herself as feeling ill.   On Thursday morning about 4 o’clock she was stricken with heart trouble and died before the woman who was rooming with her could summon help.
She was employed as pastry baker at the McBroom Brothers Café in Kankakee.   Her son, Everette Laird is employed at the same cafe and roomed at the same house.  While only just across the hall from his mother she had passed away before he could reach her bedside. Mrs. Rebecca Laird was 52 years old and was preceded in death by her husband, William Laird, several years ago.   She spent most of her life in the vicinity of Hillsboro and her death will be mourned by a large circle of sorrowing friends and relatives.   The deceased is surviving by two sons,   James, of near Newtown,  Everette of Kankakee, Ill., and one daughter, Mrs. Everette Clements of Hillsboro.   She also leaves four brothers,  Richard Myer of Kingman,   Isom and Eli Myer, of Oklahoma, and John Myer of Hillsboro.
