Land, age 30, and Paul Land, age 26, who were killed when a Wabash Railroad passenger train hit their pickup truck at a county road, a half mile east of Williamsport on Sunday, Dec. 24. The Land brothers, James and Paul, were killed instantly about 2:10 p. m. Sunday when the pickup truck in which they were riding was struck by an eastbound Wabash passenger train about a half mile east of Williamsport. There were no witnesses to the accident except the engineer and fireman of the train. Paul Raymond Land was born June 11, 1935 in Warren County. He had been a laborer and was a veteran of service with the Army in the Korean conflict. James Samuel Land was born April 25, 1931, at West Lebanon. He had been employed as a farm laborer. Both were the sons of Samuel D. and Helen Kennedy Land. Survivors include their mother, Mrs. Helen Allen of West Lebanon; six brothers, Joe of Attica, Walter of Rossville, Roy, Jerry Lee, Jackie and Larry, all at home, and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Shelley of Attica, Miss Janet Land of Attica, and Mabel and Sue, both at home. Double funeral services were held at 11 a. m. today, Dec. 27, at the Machledt Funeral Home in West Lebanon Cemetery. The Rev. Theodore Simonton officiated and burial was in the West Lebanon Cemetery.
