LAWSON, Henry Davis

Henry Davis Lawson, age 96, one of Founty County's oldest residents, died at 1 o'clock Wed afternoon Dec 10 at the home of a son, Manford in the east end of Covington on Rt. 1, after an extended illness. He was born Sept 18, 1856 in Yeddo the tenth and last child of John and Katie Brent Lawson. He was married in 1880 to Phoebe Jane Barker who preceded him in death by 12 years. Mr. Lawson spent most of his life in Mill Creek Township as a farmer. He was a former school teacher and served six years as Mill Creek Trustee. He was a member of Centennial Church at Yeddo. He came to Covington from the Home Hospital in Lafayette eleven months ago and had made his home here since. Surviving Mr. Lawson are three sons, Manford of Covington; John of Lafayette and Joe of Yakima, Washington; two daughters, Mrs. Emma Mitchelll and Mrs. Manda Swanson both of Lafayette; 28 grandchildren; 70 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 111 o'clock Sat morning at Cent. Church at Yeddo. Bur in the adjoining Cemetery. The body will remain at the Hegg Funeral Home until time to go to church. The Rev. Maurice Williams of 5th St Church of Christ of Covington will officiate.
