LAWSON, Robert Henry

Monticello - Funeral services for Robert H. Lawson, 74, 107 Brittany, Monticello, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home here. He died at 5 p.m. Friday at his residence and had been in ill health since January, 1977. Born in Fountain County on Jan. 20, 1904, he was the son of Manford and Anna Catterson Lawson. He was married Sept. 25, 1926, in Lafayette, to Clara Vaughn, who survives. He had lived in Monticello several years coming from the Wolcott community. He owned and operated the Lawson Roofing Co. in Monticello for several years until his illness. A member of the Chalmers Community Church, he was a member of the Scottish Rite and the Shrine; both of Indianapolis. He was also a member of the White County Shrine Club of which he was a past president in 1960 and the Shrine Club of Lafayette. He was a past master of the Wolcott Masonic Lodge No. 180 and was a 50-year member of that lodge and was a member of the Monticello Crystal chapter No. 165, OES. He was also a member of the White County Senior Citizens Club. Surviving with the wife are four daughters; Mrs. Betty Lord and Mrs. Shirley Krieg, both of South Bend, Mrs. Barbara Meadors, Wolcott, and Mrs. Patsy Jo Manes, Belleville, Wis.; and one son, Robert H., Hoffman Estates, Ill. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren; one great grandson; three brothers, Harry, Wolcott, Clarence, West Point, and Alfred, Orlando, Fla.; and one sister, Mrs. Lucille Wingard, Remington. Two brothers preceded him in death. The Rev. Maurice Davis will officiate at the funeral services. Burial will be in Tippecanoe Memory Garden, West Lafayette. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home where Eastern Star rites will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. and Masonic rites at 8 p.m. tonight. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the White County Cancer Fund.
