LEATH, Samuel Bernard

Samuel Bernard "Bus" Leath, 67 of Attica, formerly of Crawfordsville died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday in Community Hospital at Williamsport. He had been in failing health a year and seriously ill since January. Born May 14, 1902, in Attica, he was a son of Samuel and Joanna Meeker Leath. He was married May 27, 1927 at St. Louis to Louise Blanford. Mr. Leath resided in Attica all of his life except for 10 years when he lived lived in Crawfordsville and Michigan City. He was graduated from Attica HS in 1920 and had been superintendent of the pattern shop at Harrison Steel since 1937. He was a member of First United Methodist Church at Attica and had served on its board of trustees. He also was a member of the Attica Public Library Board and was active in Boy Scout work for a number of years. Survivors include his wife, two sons, John of Attica and James of Nashville, Tenn; a daughter, Mrs. Joanna Ruhlman of Cedar Falls, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Parnell of Crawfordsville and MIss Eva Leath and Mrs. Robert Bush of Attica, and 7 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church at Attica with Rev. Harold Bachert officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home. The family suggest those who desire may make a memorial contribution to American Cancer Society.
