LEIGHTY, James Buchanan

Mellott, April 2 - James B. Leighty, 85, a resident of Mellott since 1878 and former local constable, died this morning at the Zurface Nursing Home in Crawfordsville where he had been since last September. Born near here, he was married Jan 24, 1878 to Lillian A. Curtis, who died in 1911. For many years he was an auctioneer and later operated a filling station. Surviving are six children: Harry of Indianapolis; Mrs. Lula Aughe and Mrs. Ira Rice of Frankfort; James of Long Beach, Cal; Carl of Hillsboro and Mrs. LW Wood of Lafayette. Body at the Proffit & Son Funeral Home in Crawfordsville.  Services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at New Antioch Christian Church here with burial at HIllsboro. The body will lie in state at the church an hour preceding the service - kbz
