LEWIS, A. B. (Americus Bascom)

A.B. Lewis, well known in Covington, lower Warren and upper Vermillion counties, died at his home on the Thompson farm, four miles west of this place, on the Danville Road Monday morning at 5 o'clock after several days of illness from typhoid fever. Mr. Lewis was a son-in-law of Jay Thompson of this city, was about 39 years old an Odd Fellow and member of Foster Camp, WMA of which he was clerk, and a most estimable citizen. He had charge of the Foster elevators and was a fine business man, and all mourn the death of Mr. Lewis. Funeral services were held at Browns ? Chapel at 10:30, Tuesday conducted by Rev. Troxel after which interment was made in Mound Cemetery. This is said to have been the large funerals ever held in this section.
