Funeral services for Mrs. Cloe Lewis, age 69, of 314 W. Market St., Newport, mother of Russell Lewis of Covington Rt. 1, who died at 12:20 p. m. Wednesday, June 6, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, were held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, June 8, at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. She had been a patient at the hospital four hours but was previously hospitalized from May 14 to June 1 with a heart condition. Mrs. Lewis was born in Fountain County Aug. 21, 1892, the daughter of James and Mary Jane Davis Teegarden. She had been a life resident of Fountain and Vermilion counties and had lived mostly in the Perrysville community. She moved to Newport 16 years ago. She was married April 27, 1909 to Joseph H. Lewis, who survives. Surviving, in addition to the husband, are: nine children, Mrs. Myrtle Young of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Iris Rudy of West Lafayette, Mrs. Helen Thomas of Crawfordsville, Harry of Portland, Ore., Russell of Covington Rt. 1, Keith of Rye, N. Y., Mrs. Peggy Congleton of Perrysville, Mrs. Carmen Phillips of Hoopeston, Ill., and Mrs. Meredyth Hollingsworth of Attica; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are six half-brothers and half-sisters, Mrs. Ruth Davis and Mrs. Virginia Jackson, both of Perrysville, Leroy Crowder of Covington Rt. 1, Harold and Glen Crowder of Perrysville and Marvin of Williamsport; and two step-brothers, Ben and Jim Teegarden, both of Old Joe Ark. She was preceded in death by two daughters. The Rev. Clarence Ozier of Newport officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery here. Pallbearers were: John Stull, Pat Pattison, Ron Kooy, Tony Martin, Richard Crowder, Ronald Crowder, Bill Jackson and Jim Knight.  --typed by Walt W
