She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed in the Fountain County Section of Local History at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

MARSHALL – Mrs. Clara Shelley Lucas, 87, a former resident of the Grange Corner neighborhood, north of here, died Friday in St. Anthony Hospital at Terre Haute where she had been a patient four days. She had been in failing health one year and seriously ill one week. Born April 1, 1878 Mrs. Lucas was the daughter of Jesse and Elizabeth Horner Shelley. She was married Aug. 29, 1900 to John Alfred Lucas who died Nov. 27, 1945. Mr. and Mrs. Lucas were residents of the Grange Corner neighborhood several years where the husband engaged in farming.  Mrs. Lucas was a member of  the Montrose Methodist Church at Terre Haute, Alma Rebecca Lodge and Union Hospital Society. Survivors include a son, James W. Lucas, Rt. 1, Marshall; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a cousin, Mrs. Pearl Roberts of Terre Haute, with whom Mrs. Lucas had made her home the past 17 years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Davies-Tudor Funeral Home at Marshall, with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery near Rockville. Rev. Hubert Howell will be the officiating minister. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.   – jlr
