LUTZ, James Lawrence

Phoenix - James Lawrence Lutz, 77, Phoenix, died at Memorial Hospital here Monday. He was born in Williamsport, Ind. April 24, 1897 and moved to Arizona 26 years ago from Philadelphia. He worked as a marine engineer for Independent Pier Co. 28 years and was a fireman for Delaware Dredge Co. two years. He earlier worked for Campbell Soup Co. and from 1950-62 was at the Navajo Army Depot at Bellemont. He was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 3, F. & A.M., in Philadelphia. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Betty Craven of Prescott; a brother, Charles of Amarillo, Tex.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Memory Chapel, Phoenix, with Atzlan Lodge 1 officiating. Private cremation will follow at Mt. View Crematory here. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Memory Chapel. The family asks all donations be given the American Cancer Society.
