Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Wood Funeral Home for Jared T. Lyon, 66, of 701 E. Lincoln, who died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 1968) at Jensen Beach, Fla. The Rev. Leland Walls will officiate, with burial in Floral Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Masonic rites will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Mr. Lyon was born July 5, 1902 at Carthage, Ill., the son of William and Viola Tiner Lyon. He married Esther Anderson of Chalmers, Ind., who survives. Also surviving is a son, William of Hoopeston; a grandson, a brother, Orville Lyon of Carthage. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Mr. Lyon came to Hoopeston in 1944 from Bowen, Ill. He was principal of John Greer High until 1947 when he was named superintendent of District 4, retiring from that position in 1960. Following that he went to Germany where he taught for one year. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and the Rotary Club.  --Typed by Debby Masterson.
