Source: The obituary is from a collection of newspaper (paper names not recorded) obituaries saved, by Fauniel Hershberger, during the 1950's, 60's, 70's and 80's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

COVINGTON, Ind. — Sp. 5 Phillip Stitt Jr., 34, former Cayuga resident and son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Stitt Sr., former Commercial-News employes, died Sunday Nov. 3, 1968 from injuries received in an auto accident in Abeyille, Ga. He was returning to the Ft. Benning, Ga., Army Base from his residence in Tallahassee, Fla. Stitt, a photographer, had been wounded while serving in Vietnam before returning to the states. His parents, Phillip and Dorothy Stitt, were owners of the Cayuga Herald for several years before being employed at The Commercial-News. Sp. 5 Stitt graduated from Cayuga High in 1952. Survivors include the widow, Alice, and two children. Also surviving is a brother Capt. Jack Stitt, who recently returned from Germany and now resides in Tallahassee. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Martin Funeral Home in Tallahassee.   --typed by Walt W
