Max L. Stockdale, 71 of Hillsboro, died at 11:52 a.m. Wed Aug 9, 1995 at Culver Union Hopsital, Carawfordsville after a short illness. Born July 4, 1924 in Alamo, the son of James Jefferson and Mayme Jane Leonard Stockdale, he married Janice Nickloy Feb 14, 1945. She died July 27, 1961. He later married Alice Jane Coffman Sept 6, 1963 in Hillsboro. She survives. Also surviving are a son Brian; two daughters, Susan Hampton and Diane Brown; a brother James Roy Stockdale; a sister, Eleanor Melvin; four granchildren and one step grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Max was a farmer in the Waynetown and Hillsboro areas his entire life. He graduated from Hillsboro HS in 1942 and was a member of the HIllsboro Christian Church. visitation was Thursday at Cramer-Shoemaker Funeral Home, Waynetown. Services there on Friday with Rev. Greg McDonald. Interment will be at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society, the Hillsboro Nazarene Church Building Fund or the Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department.
