COVINGTON — Clyde Dale Stoup, 72, died at 10:20 a.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill., after a long illness. He lived in Wabash Township more than 60 years. He was a retired coal miner. During World War II he was employed by Harrison Steel in Attica. Later he worked for an asphalt company in Danville, Ill. A native of Kokomo, he was born Aug. 7, 1894, a son of William and Mary Booe Stoup. He was married to Dora VanHook in December of 1910. She preceded him in death in 1948. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Mycroft of near Covington, Miss Ileene Stoup at home, Mrs. Betty Ann Ricks of Lafayette and Mrs. Delores Ellmore of Covington; four sons, Herman of Kingman, Clyde Russell of Marion, Ill., Louis G. of Brantford, Conn., and Theodore of Lafayette; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. (EST) Saturday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen High officiating. Burial will be in Snoddy's Cemetery. (CNS) -- Clyde Dale Stoup, 72, a resident of Wabash Township for 60 years, died at 10:20 a.m. yesterday (March 23, 1967) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville where he had been a patient a day. He had been in ill health five years. He was born Aug. 7, 1894, at Kokomo, and was a son of William and Mary Booe Stoup. He married Dora Van Hook in December, 1910. She preceded him in death June 2, 1948. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Mycroft and Miss Eileen of Covington Route 1, Mrs. Betty Ann Ricks of Lafayette and Mrs. Delores Ellmore of Covington; four sons, Herman of Kingman, Clyde R. of Marion, Ill., Louis G. of Branford, Conn,, and Theodore of Lafayette; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Mr. Stoup was a retired coal miner and also worked at the Harrison Steel Casting Co. during World War II and at the Asphalt Co. in Danville. The body is at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington where friends may call. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen High officiating.
