George M. Strong, 86, a resident of the Mellott community for the past 60 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harvey Boyd, Sunday morning at 2:30 o'clock. He had been in failing health for the past year and fell July 17, fracturing his right leg.
Born Oct 29, 1861 in Boone County, he was the son of James and Marietta Jones Strong. Sept 15, 1884, he married Myrtle E. Good in Boone County. She preceded him in death in 1925.
He spent a few years immediately following his marriage in Illinois, moving from that state to Mellott. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harvey Boyd, with whom he made his home; two sons, Charles of Logansport and Robert of Freeland Park; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon t the Congregational Christian Church with the burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro
