James McMahon (Mac) Sullivan, age 71, a life resident of Covington. was found dead shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, in his home at 403 Jefferson St., where he lived alone. He was found by Covington City Police and fellow church members who had missed him at Sunday services. Fountain County Coroner Ralph Nelson of Veedersburg investigated and found death was from a coronary occlusion. He apparently had died Saturday night as he was getting ready for bed. His body, with his pajamas clasped under one arm, was found at the foot of his bed. Mr. Sullivan was born May 11, 1893, in Covington. the son of John W. and Elizabeth A. McMahon Sullivan. He was graduated from Covington High School in 1910 and attended Purdue University. He taught at Lemon School, east of Covington, was a rural mail carrier for 10 years and was in the grocery business until retiring in 1957. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Covington, the Knights of Columbus of Danville, Ill., and he was a member and active in the Fountain. County Historical Society. Mr. Sullivan is survived by several cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. today, Sept. 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald Vernon officiated and burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, north of Covington. Serving as pallbearers were: Dr. R. D. Ferguson, Robert Cunningham, William C. Martin, Herbert Parrett, L. Guy Faust and Lyle D. Hegg.
