COVINGTON — Rachael B. Summers,
88, formerly of Veedersburg, died at 5:10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 in The
Waters of Covington nursing home, where she had been a resident for the past
several years. She was born July 22, 1912 in Fountain County, the daughter of
Pearle and Phoebe Richardson Orahood. She married Manford Summers Feb. 24,
1934. He preceded in death in 1979. She was a member of the Community Bible
Baptist Church in Veedersburg and a former member of the J.W.G. Birthday Club.
Survivors include: a son, Arnold (Theda) Summers, Veedersburg; a daughter,
Patricia (Jack) Aikman, Indianapolis; four grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She was also preceded in
death by two brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were at 11 a.m.
Tuesday in Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, with the Revs. David Frazuer,
Gary Johnson and Tony Johnson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery,
Covington. Memorial tributes may be made to the American Heart Association. – jlr
