SUMMERS, Zura Leonard

Zura Leonard Summers was born on a farm in Orange County, Indiana, Nov. 11, 1864 and passed from this life June 2, 1949.
  At an early age she with her mother, two brothers and two sisters, moved to Fountain County where she lived the remainder of her life, except one year in Gary, Indiana.

  April 6, 1884, she united in marriage with Allen Summers who preceded her in death. To this union two sons were born, Clarence, at home and Walter, of Urbana, Ill.

  Surviving are the sons, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
  At an early age she became a member of the Yeddo Christian Church and for many years served in church and Sunday school work.

  She was a charter member of the Yeddo Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and for the remainder of her life faithfully served her chapter as an officer and in many other ways.

  She was instrumental in organizing the Centennial Cemetery League and served as president 28 years or until her death. – S&E
