ATTICA — Iris Elaine "Tootie” (Kellar) Sutton, 79, Attica, died at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 1999 in Home Hospital, Lafayette. Born May 26, 1920 in Springfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of Arch R. and Opal M. Masterson Kellar Stacker. She married James Rhinehart Sutton Aug. 23, 1941 in Attica. He preceded her in death June 16, 1988. She grew up in Chicago and relocated to Lafayette in 1937. She resided in Attica since 1939. She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1938 and from Indiana Business College. During World War II, she worked as a telephone operator for Indiana Bell in Lafayette. She later transferred to the Attica office and helped type orders for material on new change over from general assistance to dial phone in 1957. She also later worked as a secretary for the city clerks office in Attica for 25 years. She and her husband formerly owned and operated the Hoosier Restaurant in Attica. Survivors include: son, David Michael Sutton, Attica; and grandsons, Joshua R. Sutton, Indianapolis and Caleb M. Sutton, Attica. Funeral services were at 3 p.m., Saturday at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. George Weister officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
