KINGMAN — John William Swaney, 71, Kingman, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006 in his home. He was born Dec. 21, 1934 in Covington, the son of Archie Leroy and Estella Isabel (McKinney) Swaney. He attended Covington schools. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a life resident of Fountain County, moving to Kingman from Covington in 1993. He worked as a laborer for Hyster and Nacco. He was a member of Kingman Christian Church. Survivors include: three sons, John W. (Laura) Swaney Jr., Kingman, James Swaney, Crawfordsville, and Joseph Swaney, Crawfordsville; three daughters, Mary Embry, Kingman, Rebecca Linker, Kingman, and Charity Jones, Crawfordsville; two brothers, Mickey Swaney, Lafayette and Donnal (Cindy) Swaney, Covington; 11 grandchildren, Jacob, Heather, Christopher, Eden, Skylar, Hannah, Abby, Ally, Amanda, John, Xavier; and a great-granddaughter, Haley. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Richard Swaney. A memorial services was at 2 p.m. Sunday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Tim Lyons officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. – jlr
