Frank W. Swearingen, 90, Alvin, Illinois, died at 7:20 a.m. Thursday, December 1, at Danville Veterans Administration Medical Center.

  Born September 5, 1893 in Hillsboro, he was the son of Thomas M. and Mary Nelson Swearingen. He attended Hillsboro schools. He married Georgia Blackburn, who preceded him in death. He later married Iva Brewer, who also preceded him in death. On February 14, 1978, he married Lula Allison, who survives.

  He was a retired railroad engineer with the Wabash Railroad. A World War I veteran he served overseas and attained the rank of sergeant. He was a member of Rossville, Illinois, United Methodist Church, a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite Valley of Danville, Olive Branch Masonic Lodge 38, Ansar Tempter, Gao Grotto, Jewell Whyte Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 728 and Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.

  Other survivors include a brother, Guy Swearingen of Ogden; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

  Private services were conducted at Morrison Funeral Home in Bismarck, Illinois with Richard Harris officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. The family requested that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Bismarck Community Ambulance Service. – s
