ATTICA — Dorothy E. (Stetler) Tharp, 75, 807 Summit St., Attica, died at 12:20 a.m. Aug. 30, 1999, in the Covington Manor Nursing Center. Born Sept. 3, 1923, in Attica, she was the daughter of Dewey Ellsworth and Ethel Ona Ross Stetler. She married Rev. Bob L. Tharp June 30, 1951 in Attica. He preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1982. She attended Logan Township, Attica and Williamsport schools. She formerly resided in Cincinnati, Oxford, Covington and New Orleans. She was formerly employed at Edwin I. Guffman Corp. in Attica for five years. She later worked for 10 years at the Radio Material Corp. in Attica. She was a member of the Covington Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed reading and crocheting. Survivors include: brothers, Rev. Kenneth Stetler, Rising Sun, James Stetler, Phoenix, Rev. Monte Stetler, Winston-Salem; sisters, Naomi (Charles) Marck, Logan, Ohio, Marjorie Poe and Emma (Ed) Highlander, Frankfort, and Patricia (David) Burris, Attica; sister-in-law, Phyllis Pattengale, Attica; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Waneta Stetler, Mary Kerns and Frances Ann Stetler. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Maus Funeral Home in Attica with Pastors Thomas Hunter and Larry Schuringa officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or the Williamsport Senior Citizens Center. – jlr
