Rhoda E. Thomas, 80, a resident of this community for the last 30 years, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday (29 June 1948).

Death occurred at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Millikin of near Tangier, where Mrs. Thomas went two weeks ago to visit.

The daughter of Edward and Anna Andrews Wilson, Mrs. Thomas was born at Montmorenci April 1, 1868.  She was married to Herschel Thomas, who was killed 19 years ago in a train-car collision.  She was a member of the Veedersburg EUB Church.  

Surviving are two sons, Paul of Westville, Ill and Clarence of Tangier; four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Millikan and Mrs. Belle Millikan, both of Tangier; Mrs. Lula Nicholas of Veedersburg and Mrs. Bessie Caughrean of San Francisco and 17 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Veedersburg EUB Church Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mac Reed in charge.  Burial will be at Montmorenci.   --- transcribed by kbz - provided by Betty D.

  Veedersburg—Mrs. Rhoda E. Thomas, 80, a resident of the Veedersburg vicinity the past 30 years, died Tuesday evening at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Millikan of near Tangier, where she had gone two weeks ago for a visit.
  A heart ailment was the cause of death.

  Born at Montmorenci, Ind., April 1, 1867, she was the daughter of Edward and Anna Andrews Wilson.

  She was married to Hershel Thomas who was killed 19 years ago when his auto was struck by a Peoria and Eastern train.

    Surviving are two sons, Paul Thomas of Westville, Ill. and Clarence Thomas of tangier; four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Millikan and Mrs. Belle Millikan, both of Tangier, Mrs. Lula Nichols of Veedersburg, and Mrs. Bessie Canghrean of San Francisco, California.
  She was a member of the EUB Church.

  The Fishero Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 o’clock at the EUB Church. Burial at Montmorenci. Rev. Mark Reed will officiate. – thanks to S&E
