THOMPSON, Winfield Scott

WINFIELD SCOTT THOMPSON died in a hospital in Chicago Saturday morning after much suffering and having gone through with two operations for gangrene.   Mr. Thompson was taken to a Chicago hospital some weeks ago by Dr. F. S. Cuthbert of this city.  The remains were brought to his home near Howard on Saturday and services were conducted Monday at 10 o’clock by Rev. Zimri Maris assisted by Rev. John Marshall.    Burial was made in the Miller cemetery near that place.  Mr. Thompson was one of the most highly respected citizen of the territory in which he lived and the community was sorrow stricken beyond description when they learned of his sad death. He was a man about 60 years of age and leaves three daughters, one son, a number of grandchildren, one brother, one sister and a host of warm friends to mourn his loss.  Deceased was a man for whom every one that knew him had the most profound respect and was always found working for the betterment of his community. - S
