Charles R. Tignor, son of Wyatt and Lucy Davis Tignor, was born in Stylesville, Indiana Feb 23, 1854 and departed this life at Lake View Hospital at Danville, Illinois August 17, 1932 age 78 years, 5 months an 23 days.  He came to Veedersburg in the year 1874, where he has since resided.  He was united in marriage to Mary S. Paugh and to this union one child was born, Herschel Tignor of Champaign, Illinois.  In 1881 he was again marriage to Lucinda Hurt and to this union was born three children, Mrs. Edith L. Bacon, Cyris F. and Hazel S. Tignor. He was associated for many years with the Rowe Hardware Company of this city and following this the old Wabash Company.  For 16 years previous to his retirement eight years ago, he was in the employ of the Big Four Railroad in the maintenance of way department.  He was always of a happy, sunny disposition and a great lover of nature and he spent endless, happy hours among his shrubbery and flowers, seeking artistic arrangements and getting great joy in announcing every day the appearance of new blossoms during the flowers season. He has by his friendly, genial disposition made countless friends all along the journey of life. No day was too dull or rainy that he forgot to joke or to bring his bit of sunshine to those about him.  During the past year he has rapidly failed in health so that he has not been able to do many of the little duties about the home which he had formerly taken so much pleasure in doing as he was never satisfied unless he was busy.  For a number of years he had been troubled with a hernia which on Wednesday August 10, became so serious that when Dr. Carl McCord made an examination it was discovered that an immediate operation was necessary, and he was quickly taken to the Lake View Hospital at Danville where Dr. LO Miller performed the operation.  Uremic poisoning complicated the case so that he never became rational but quietly slept his life away and on Wednesday of this week he passed into that deeper slumber where no ear can hear an earthly term of endearment and the spirit returned to its eternal abiding place. His daughter, Hazel who is a nurse remained with him constantly to help him fight the last enemy, death but having lived almost the allotted span of four score years, love could ..
